Flip for first strip.
Your feet need a break from waders, and you need a little break from trout, so when you head south of the border for some salt water action, bring the Simms Men's Strip Flip Flops along for the set. Since they're made by Simms, you can rest assured that they were designed with anglers in mind. Their synthetic leather upper is comfortable, and will hold up against the wear and tear of being in and out of the water and of long days spent in the sun. A neoprene lining allows for next-to-skin comfort, and a molded EVA midsole maintains the support you need when you're spending your days on the bow of a boat casting to bonefish.

- Q & A
Not for tropical use.
I lost my 1st pair, and liked it so much that i bought a replacement right when i got home from a trip. The 2nd pair I took to Asia, island hoping in the tropics for 2 months. Sadly the flip flop did not hold up to the heat of the tropics. Using it in CA Sierra Nevada lakes, rivers and stream, it performed better than expected. Very light, dries fast and minimal stretching.
However, While in the tropics, the sandals stretched and stretched and stretched till it became 3 to 4 sizes too big which made it very loose. The looseness gave both my feet blisters and calluses. I figured maybe when it dries up it will go back to its original form and shrink back down to size 8, but it didn't . While carefully wading through shallow corals, the toe strap broke without warning. I did not expect that, since this sandal is made for saltwater fly fishing intended to be used wet or dry, and my 2nd pair is pretty new, only a few months old worth of use. SIMMS and Back Country warranty was easy and painless. I will be buying more gear from them for sure!
I still like the flip flop, and since it worked flawlessly in the Sierra Nevadas cold water lakes and streams, I am going to get my 3rd pair! Just dont take it to the tropics. Lesson learned. Will have to find a dif kind to take to Florida on my next trip.
I'm a big flip flop wearer, I wear it to fish, duck hunt, hike, run, kayak, to party and travel. From 120F in the Mojave Desert, to 10F in the Sierra mnt in winter while snowing, I wear flip flops. I own many brands, my favorite is Rainbow sandals for its durability and lightness. I hate heavy flip flops. Rainbow sandals are not water proof and does not stand to long submersion while fly fishing, I ruined 4 pairs last season, so i had to find another type. This is the lightest SIMMS sandals they make. usually, with sandals or shoes, they need to be broken in, this sandal was comfortable right out of the box! I was amazed and excited. Took my 1st pair to Lake Crowley and lost it! 1 week old, these are not cheap. When I got home i bought another one right away!
I also have wide feet, D. But this fit nice in normal size. I wear size 8 in tennis shoes and 9.5 in boots. I bought size 8 SIMMS and its right on the money. Comfy, light, waterproof, you get what you paid for.
