The main reason I looked at this jacket was that it had the Gore-Tex Pro material - 3 layers - Yes there are other materials out there and they are good. I have had a few of each, and they are generally decent. I had just never sprung for the pro material till now. The fit and style of this jacket will serve me on multiple front's! It is made and tailored for me to Fly fish! It looks good enough to grab and go to dinner with the beautiful wife! I can roll up the hood and stash it in the collar. I can wear it as the best wind shear out there when standing in a field watching the kids lacrosse games in sub temperature here in Chicago. Last wear was during an entire weekend of upper teens and 20+mph winds with snow, sleet and rain. This was worn with my kinetic jacket underneath. Perfect to keep warm and dry all weekend!
Recommend this to anyone that has the spare change to snag it! I think it is just a little large running. I ordered the XL expecting to need it for layering. It is a generous size, so I returned it for a L and all is good, even when layering.

    Best outer layer!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This jacket is one of the best pieces of outerwear that I own. The jacket has many features that it set it apart from other jackets that I used to fish with.

The primary reason I purchased this coat was for the GORE TEX material. I am very impressed by the GORE TEX material as it is very breathable but also blocks wind, rain, and snow. I fish primarily in Wyoming and Colorado where the weather changes rapidly and this GORE Tex fabric is great in all of the conditions I fish. Another plus to having this weather proof outerlayer is I can reduce my underneath layering allowing me to be less bulky when fishing which is a huge plus for hiking, casting, and my overall fishing experience.

As for the features of the coat that I am impressed with I am really happy with the pockets. The two huge front pockets take the place of a vest or a waist pack now. I can fist most any fly box I would want into the pockets and still have room for spare spools, leaders, tippets, and my camera. Having your gear inside the jacket compared to outside the jacket on a vest has been a huge plus as I do not have anything to get hung up on when rowing a drift boat or when casting. Another feature I have liked are the cuffs in the sleeves. I have never given these much thought but the sleeve design prevents water from flowing down your arm when your hands are wet. This has been great after releasing fish on a cold day.

I have am really pleased with the performance of this jacket and look forward to many upcoming seasons with it. I review fishing gear for GORE and can tell you this jacket is worth the cost.
