    River functionality at its finest.

Long days on the river call for a rugged, water-resistant pack that slings across your body without restricting casting movements. Satisfying these requirements with finesse, the Simms G4 Pro Sling Pack pairs streamlined gear organization with ergonomic comfort on the river. Innovative features include a fold-down work bench with tippet tender and floatant/shake holder, as well as a net carrying system for convenience when you're ready to land a feisty fish.

This sling pack is worthy of professional guides and discerning fishermen alike, thanks to its durable ripstop fabric paired with an impervious TPU coating. Keeping water out when you're wading in deeper pools, its vulnerable seams are taped and the interior is fully lined with a water-resistant fabric. The U-shaped zipper facilitates side loading and retrieval of gear with a single hand when you're holding a fly rod.

    Excellent Sling Pack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I can't say enough about this pack. After going through several other slings out there (Orvis, Allen, Patagonia, Maxcatch etc.) I can honestly say this is my favorite! It has it all. Not too big, not too small, unbeatable internal organization and much more.

One thing that's a nice change is the beverage pocket inside of the pack instead of the outside. This allows you to choose to carry a beverage, or remove the internal separator for use as extra storage. It is a very sizable area, so you can fit very wide containers, such as a soup thermos or a growler of beer.

The sling is very comfortable and secure. I've noticed a previous reviewer state that it slips off of his/her shoulder while casting? I've never experienced that with any pack. All I can say is that I'd like to see what's happening when that takes place. Perhaps the pack is on incorrectly, or he/she casts like a professional baseball pitcher, which I still think would be hard to lose the pack when wearing correctly.

Keep in mind, this pack is WATER-RESISTANT, not WATERPROOF! On a recent youtube video, a gentleman was spraying his pack with a hose to test the waterproofness. I honestly don't even know what to say about that other than don't take it fishing when someone is spraying you with a hose??? I personally took a dive with this pack on while attempting to navigate through a strong current. The pack submerged for a short period of time and I expected the worst, much to my surprise there wasn't a whole lot of water inside and the exterior of the pack shed all the water instead of staying wet until I could dry it out.

I highly recommend this pack to any serious fly fisherman! I think any serious angler would soon agree with my comments.

Thanks for reading, and best of luck with your future fishing adventures!

    Excellent Sling Pack

    Slips off my shoulder

I love the storage/pockets and features. However the sling is not for me. Sucks to hike around with and slips off my shoulder when I cast. Not my favorite pack. I wouldn't recommend it.

    Exactly what I wanted.

I recently started fly fishing and wanted a versatile pack that I could use to pack gear and other essentials on fly fishing hikes into the canyons of the Rocky Mountains. The G4 Pro Sling is comfortable and has tons of storage (more than I may ever need). I love the design and it makes things very convenient when a knot fails or my amateur casting creates lovely tangles. The only minor issues I can possibly think of are the zippers can sometimes be difficult (which I imagine comes with being water tight - untested) and the velcro tippet and flotant holders in the (awesome) workbench compartment don't stay put as much as I would like. Also, there are no convenient water bottle pockets. Otherwise, this is a fantastic product that I am very satisfied with and expect to be using for a very long time.

    worth the price

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

so much room & space. very thoughtfully constructed & designed. durable. pretty damn comfortable ta-boot! even went in 'the drink' and stayed 98% try. I have used it every weekend for a month. big rivers, small rivers. holds everything for a day on the river to catch large fish, and all the beer you need to forget when you couldnt net 'em.
