Why We Like The Simms Dry Creek Z Sling

The Simms Dry Creek Z Sling is waterproof and submersible, protecting our fishing gear from heavy rains and accidental falls. This 12-liter pack features an abrasion-resistant nylon ripstop that’s TPU-coated for waterproofing with a waterproof zipper to prevent wet clothes and flooded fly boxes on wet wading days. While the submersibility stands out for us, the Dry Creek Z sling also features the convenient storage we expect from Simms, including internal organizational pockets and external Hypalon lash points, a water-resistant external pocket for easy-access tools and tackle, and an integrated net sleeve with D-ring.

Great while it lasted

Use it in salt water over 100 nights a year. Main compartment was remarkably waterproof for 2 seasons so much so that if the water rose higher than the bag i would float. It now slowly leaks when submerged despite me routinely lubricating the seal. Once saltwater gets in you have to clean everything stored inside the bag plus the bag itself so not really worth using anymore. Additionally the outside pocket zipper corroded after a year of use. The pocket is now stuck shut. Overall I like the design, the straps keep it in place when casting a surf rod and liked being able to slide it to in front of me to access the contents without taking it off. Unfortunately it didn't hold up which is what I expect when spending extra on Simms.

Mu go to in fringe weather especiially!

Good waterproofing. once you get used to the straps you can dial in a system of how you best want to sling and swing it. could use an additional set of mesh pockets opposite the others inside. Keep use the included lube for the zip closure if it gets dry over time. I use the lanyard attachments for my large net and my plier/forceps rig.

poor net pocket design

May be returning it, first off great construction, however getting the net in and out is a night mare and it does not hold a standard net without constantly falling out . poor net design

Looks like a great bag I haven’t really had a chance to use it yet. I bought this to carry stuff while traveling to fishing destinations.

Fish year round. Bag is high qaulity and rugged 100% Reccomend

I fish mostly salt, Gulf of Mexico down to the Keys. The pack is perfect for walking beaches and flats sight fishing. The color is perfect. Blends in with everything and does not conduct heat as much as my previous bag. I 100% reccomend this bag if you are a minimalist and fish in the extreme that require extra clothing and hydration. Holds my H2O rain gear, GPS two 6x4 fly boxes and extra reel, leaders and first aide. The only improvement I would make is to add an adjustment to the top of the shoulder strap so you can adjust exactly where the tool and fly patch go on your chest, but more importantly have the ability to dial in where the second wrap around strap comes around under your arm. I am a big guy and the straps are more than long enough, just wish I could get it to connect a couple inches low. Not a game changer, still comfortable, but it could be improve.

Not Completely Waterproof

NOT completely waterproof. The top pocket will let in water if it gets wet. I use this in the surf and a hit from a wave guarantees water in the top compartment. I contacted customer service and they thanked me for letting them know..
