Getting ready for a bike race or a weekend ride trip is something we always look forward to and now with the Maratona Gear Bag from Silica, getting packed up is easier than ever with its cycling specific travel bag. It's designed with feedback from pro riders creating a gear bag that's optimized for traveling with cycling gear.
Silca constructs the Maratona from sturdy 600D nylon and waxed canvas, ensuring a long life. On the inside, a bright red 100D nylon lining provides contrast so it's easier to find items inside. These materials are staples in the Silca bag lineup as they've proven to be durable, reliable, and resistant to weather. The quilt stitching is reflective keeping you a bit more visible in low-light and the Silca branding lets other cyclists know that you have sophisticated taste and style. Three external handles make the bag easy to carry, even if you have a bike in the other hand, and stow-able shoulder straps allow the Maratona to easily transform between a duffel bag and a backpack.
Inside the bag is a vented shoe compartment, with internal and external access, as well as a vented damp garment bag, pockets for tool storage, and internal holsters for water bottles. These features help to ensure you have everything you need for your upcoming trip and are super useful post ride when you want to keep your used kit separate from other clothes and essentials. One of our favorite features is the ability to completely unzip the padded top to lay flat on the ground serving as a changing mat and a great way to keep your feet clean.
Another clever detail on the Maratona is its ability to meet airline carry-on luggage size while flying (55 x 35 x 22cm or 44L) while also allowing for it to expand to 60L (60 x 40 x 25cm) if you are checking the bag or not traveling by plane.

Well Thought Out and Silca Quality
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have yet to put this bag through any hard abuse, but my initial impressions of it are really positive. Up until now I've been using a Backcountry duffel for hauling my gear around which is fine, but everything on this bag is better thought out and higher quality. Flaps and pockets and dividers are all made to fit helmets and shoes and bottles and tools and things just fit. The wide opening compared to a duffel eliminates my previous troubles of things getting lost in the bottom of the bag. All the materials used do look tough and zippers feel quality, but we'll see how it lasts long term. It's not cheap and for the price I wish it was made in the US,

Great gear bag!
My favorite purchase from last year. I use this all the time. It holds about a weeks worth of cycling gear or more.

- I've put it through the wringer
I love that it’s made really tough, good looking, perfectly organized for bike stuff. Whenever I travel with my bike gear this bag accommodates it all. Whether it’s the light gear of summer or the many multiple seasonal garments you need. It has plenty of pockets to store it all very smartly. They really put some thought into this bag. From the biggest to smallest thing it organizes it all. The multiple handles gives me plenty of options and the shoulder straps for carrying it on your back are by far the most comfortable I’ve used. It cleans up easy too. It’s a quality product that you’ll be glad you invested in. I highly recommend it. Other gear bags just look lame next to it. Treat yourself.
