    Sleep like a baby.

Nights spent out of doors aren't always deep in the backcountry, but it's tough to bring your bed from home even if you're camping out in the backyard. Sierra Designs' Frontcountry 600 Sleeping Bag aims to bring the comfort of home to your camping adventures with a blend of synthetic and down insulation and a roomy cut that will keep you warm and comfortable when you're getting your outdoor beauty rest.

Water-resistant DriDown insulation keeps heat from escaping out the top of the Frontcountry, while durable and compression-resistant synthetic insulation lines the bottom to keep the cold ground from sapping your warmth. Insulated hand and arm pockets provide convenient spots for fingers when the night gets chilly, and the Frontcountry's integrated comforter seals naturally around your body whether you sleep on your side, back, or belly. It's also completely zipperless with a wide front opening that allows you to stretch without letting in drafts. The bag sports a generous rectangular cut that lets you spread out, and it has a hood that easily fits standard pillows.

    Good Quality Comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tried the Frontcountry bed with my Klymit V Deluxe air mattress (76" x 30" x 3") with the adjustable sleeve unbuttoned and the fit was perfect. Although I slept indoors (testing the roominess), this bag did not hinder my constant tossing and turning - which is why I need a roomier bag. Very comfortable night sleep. I am a 6' tall, 220 lbs. male with broad shoulders.

At nearly 5 lbs. with my compression sack, I do plan to use it for backpacking because I lothe zippered bags. My only negative remark: needs to be lighter weight, but I'll get use to it.

    Perfectly designed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The frontcountry bed is designed for perfect comfort. No zippers. No shock cord getting in the way.
Love the hood, love the sewn in comforter, love the easily aired foot box. This is a heavy item though; so better for car camping. I use mine for hammock sleeping and couldn't be happier with the performance!

    Oh so nice

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this bag because it had been ~25 years since I purchased a "nice" sleeping bag and I figured I was due. Roominess was my number one criteria as I plan to use this mostly for car camping in Minnesota/northern US.

I very much appreciate the unique no-zipper design with its opening on top and "comforter" type feel - it's brilliant! In pretty much any position I felt absolutely unfettered and found it very easy to move/roll within the space of the bag. The comforter and my pillow (standard sized) stayed put with position changes - which was oh so nice.

Regarding warmth/temperature... It is about what I expected.
I am generally a cold sleeper and know that I need to add about 10 deg to the comfort rating of my bag to stay warm all night. So far with only 1 night of camping and a low temperature of 40 deg, that's exactly what happened. Expecting a cool night I wore baggy yoga pants, long sleeved shirt + fleece vest, Smartwool socks and a stocking cap. I was comfortably warm for most of the night, and started to cool around 4-5AM. I hoped that I wouldn't need it, but threw a light fleece blanket over me and did fine after that. I've seen a couple reviews on other websites criticizing the skimpy amount of down in the top of the bag. I'd say the bag is definitely not puffy with down and I would prefer a bit more. But I think it's enough insulation/down to be consistent with its advertised temperature rating for most people.

Overall: very comfortable and roomy bag - a lot like a bed. I slept about as well as I've ever slept in a sleeping bag and I'm happy with my purchase.
