Update your bag to bed status.
Your favorite thing about camping just might be the fact that when you're nestled in your Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed 700 Dridown 35 Degree Sleeping Bag, you have trouble distinguishing home from tent. Let's not be rash here, however. Your favorite things about camping are really the red rock landscape and the scent of desert sage brush, but this bag comes in for a close third place. With a unique design that eliminates the zipper, you get an incorporated comforter that acts just like the one on your bed—curl it under, snuggle with it, or toss it off you when it gets warm. Alternatively, should the desert nights cool, you can hook the blanket to the bag sides, cinch the hood around your face, and pretend you were in your traditional mummy bag all along.
Insulated sleeves in the comforter help eliminate drafts, and a sleeve along the bottom lets you slide your sleeping pad in for ultimate roll-around comfort without worrying about that slick rock you set you tent up on. If you're going sans-tent (because the night sky is also a favorite), worry not about dew or morning showers getting your down soggy—this stuff is Dridown, and it stays lofty and retains warmth even when wet.

Comforters in the Backcountry
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
At the beginning of me looking into getting a new sleeping bag, I think I said what most people say when they first see this comforter/sleeping bag design "why the heck would I buy that". I believe I said it out loud, because at that moment my friend and fellow Gearhead Ashleigh McClary leaned over and told me "Oh those are amazing! You have try one of those!". I fought her for so long. We had debates over what sleeping bag I should buy. However, after it all, she convinced me. "At least try it". So I did. And I was wrong. This sleeping bad is amazing. Its the perfect in-between of rectangular and mummy bags on the market. I've generally never been a fan of either of those types, with the mummy being too constrictive and the rectangular being too cold. This fixed that on both fronts. The top hood of this bag isn't restrictive at the least, and the internal comforter is incredibly adjustable to match the cold of the night. Add in that its only like a pound, and its stuff sack is a manageable 15x7.5 inch, and you got yourself a winner. So, thank you, Ashleigh. This bad is perfect. (Also, this may mean Ashleigh is a better Gearhead than me, I'm not sure of the rules).
