Wow - these are so adjustable!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 41
I have narrow heels and an annoyed Achilles tendon down near the heel. Any rubbing on my heel tends to make the Achilles even more annoyed. Luckily, these shoes have an adjustable heel. You can tighten or loosen screws on each side of the heel for a dialed-in fit. It's so nice to finally have a pair of cycling shoes that provide this.
They are light, stiff and comfortable. The tongue has some padding that allows a secure fit across the instep, but doesn't push down too hard and is comfortable. The dials adjust in small increments, again to get the tightness just perfect. I haven't notched the tongue yet, but on my right foot, I need to maybe clip a couple of the notches so it doesn't push against my ankle.
I rode on a cool day, so I haven't opened up the front vents yet, but that's a nice touch too.
As for insoles or footbed, I have a little extra room, and think an insole with some arch support would be great. Currently looking for that.
As far as sizing, I wear a 41 in Specialized, and I got a 41. That tells me these are true to size, at least for my feet.
These are the best cycling shoes I've owned, by far. I highly recommend them.
Since I've only worn them a couple of times, I'll update if anything changes or if I have more praise.
Huge Sidi Fan

This is my second pair. I was very happy at the width of these shoes and the firm sole. I felt like my old Sidis were stretched a bit in the toe area, so this was awesome to change to. The strapping mechanism is perfect for tightening or easily loosening. The ONLY reason I'm giving this a 4 is due to the tongue. The tongue digs into the front of my leg and has made it sore. I have loosened them, but over time it still makes the area sore. A longer tongue or having it not so stiff where it meets my leg would be nice. Not enough of a complaint to return, but I'm shocked it has not been reported prior to me and repaired for the price of the shoes.
