    Sure-footed stability for technical trails.

Revamped with an 11.7 percent increase in pedal-to-shoe contact over its PD-M785 predecessor, the Shimano XT PD-M8020 Trail Pedal provide supreme stability for conquering formidable stretches of trail. The 3.3 millimeter wider profile over the previous iteration makes the M8020 Trail Pedal even more competent in wild terrain, facilitating quick engagement without endlessly searching for the pedal platform.

Other than the slightly wider surface, the M8020 Trail Pedal retains the bombproof characteristics of the legendary PD-M785 with cro-moly construction and sealed cartridge bearings. Two-sided engagement makes easy work of clipping in, especially after dismounting across steep uphill sections and technical stretches. Another benefit, the cleat-to-pedal interface avoids mud buildup, even in nasty trail conditions. Other notable features include four degrees of float and integration with the included 2-bolt SPD cleats.

    XT for the win

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great peddle that has been known for years for it durability and cost. Just like most things I look for on my bike, I want them to last and I don't want to break the bank. These peddles hit both of these marks.

    Straightforward and good quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am admittedly new to clipping in and have yet to put many miles on these yet, but what I can say is that they're well made, easy to adjust, and quick to get into. Solid choice for a beginner or an expert. Great price and great quality.

    Awesome pedal.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I ride my MTB 2-3 times per week, and these pedals have stood up to the regular use in all conditions swimmingly. After the first couple hundred miles, you may want to tighten the tension screw 3 or 4 clicks as they will break in.

    Tried and True

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Shimano SPD reliability, and a cage that's big enough to give you some security when not clipped in, but small enough not to add a ton of weight and bulk. I've had a few hard rock strikes with no significant damage to the pedals.

    Super durable, great price

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

XT pedals are sort of a staple in the pedal game. One thing that folks don't necessarily consider is the benefit of the beveled pedal frame vs. other options. I had a pair of HTs for a bit and whenever I had a pedal strike, the HTs would get all hung up on the rock. Shimano's tend to glide off the rocks a bit more easily when you have your little pedal strike oopsies.

Great Clip;less option to start on te Tr

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought these for trail riding. The tension adjustment has a wide range and allows for a good clip in with easy release when necessary. Also rode downhill 1 day without any issues. Good pedal for the money

    Great Pedals!

I puchased these pedals so that i would have a wider pedal base to use while on the bike. Not only do i enjoy having a little extra pedal to use while starting my pedal stroke, i also use these when biking around town with tennis shoes on as well.

      Ol' Reliable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Replaced an older version after an incident with a rock...these are my go to pedals. Hold up very nicely and don't have mechanical problems.

      XT = More than Adequate

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The wide pedaling platform on these pedals made it super easy to convert from flats to clipless this season. The pedals are easy to adjust making clipping-in and out is a breeze compared to others on the market. They're ultra reliable and built to last!

      All you need

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you're looking for a clipless pedal, the search can end here. Just get these. I love the easy/adjustable release, great feel and great durability.

I see little to no reason to go to an XTR pedal over this XT pedal.

      Great Pedal

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These pedals are a great design which has only been perfected over time. They have really helped boost my climbing and descending confidence and have made me a faster rider over all. I can feel a contact difference with black collar that runs the perimeter of them which I think lends additional control to my riding. I also enjoyed the adjustability of these pedals which allows me to easily pop out when I need to. 5 Stars way up for these bad boys.

      Great reliability, stability

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used XT XC pedals for years. A year ago I switched to the Trail pedal. Same awesome durability/function of the XT clipless, but much better than the XC form factor when unclipped on tricky terrain.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I brought these after my XTR pedals broke from hitting a rock. Thus far, they seem really durable for how light they are. I can barely tell that they are different from the XTRs when I'm riding. True, they might be harder to clip in to in comparison to Crankbrothers, however, I would take durability over ease to clip in any day!

Wasn't as good as I was expecting.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these pedals to give myself a little more stability than my other clipless pedals. I am not super impressed. They really aren't much better, so I kind of regret buying them. They work well and do their job, but they just didn't exceed my expectations.

      Unanswered Question

Which clip does this take? 51, 54? Is the XT pedal one type and the XTR another and the 530 yet another? Can you provide this detail in your descriptions?
