    Leave nothing behind.

Instead of buying several trail packs in quick succession after realizing yours are continuously too big, too small, or without a feature you didn't realize you needed, you could invest in a pack like Shimano's Unzen Bike Hydration Pack with Resevoir. With a versatile size that won't weigh you down on short days but will still hold everything you need on longer adventures, the Unzen comes with a Hydrapak hydration system and the ability to hold and organize everything you'll need on a ride.

Whether you're pedaling along your local singletrack or traveling further afield, the bag comes with a tool organizer pocket, a fleece-lined pouch to protect the surfaces of electronics and sunglasses, and space to store lightweight body armor or a jacket on its exterior. It's also dotted with an array of other more general-use pockets as well as an outer helmet holder to make packing up for a drive to the trailhead easier. A removable waist belt helps keep the ache out of your shoulders on longer days, even when the pack is laden with supplies. While your stuff stays organized, you'll stay cool and dry with the bag's breathable straps and back panel, designed to keep you comfortable during hot days and exposed rides.

    Quality product but awkward

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Shimano Unzen 2L is unique. While it has the Shimano quality, the design has me puzzled. Shimano tried to think outside the box which is good but some of the features just make using the pack awkward. I solely bought the pack because of the "X" strap design because it is meant to hold the pack tighter and works but has some quirks. The Shimano Unzen is a more minimal pack just to hold essentials. Size is good but organization is not so good.

First the side access. The side access to main compartment /hydration compartment is difficult to use. It is so hard to put in the bladder especially if you have your stock accessories (tools, tube, pump). So, you have to take them out everytime you want to put the bladder in because you have to reorganize all your stuff every time. They really should have a separate compartment to the bladder or some tool organizer inside to manage the items.

Next is the awkward straps. While I like the "X" strap design because it seems to hold the pack tight on your body and can be adjusted depending on your torso length which is good but the straps are very awkward to adjust. Also, the straps lack any rigidity so they are just floppy and awkward.

Shimano really needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.
