Goodbye missed shifts.
Run the Shimano Ultegra CN-6701 Chain in between the twister and the twistee for reliable, fast-shifting performance thanks to the innovative Hyper-Glide system. Shift pins and ramps on Shimano chainrings and cassettes mesh perfectly with the Ultegra chain, ensuring you won't miss a shift when riding aggressively.

Shimano Ultegra CN-6701 Chain
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I have always used Shimano Ultegra Chains and I never had a big problem with this product and using this chain on my road bike and the reason why I like Shimano Products is because they make High End Products Like there Groupset. And that is why I have used Shimano Ultegra all my life because it is the best product out there on the Market. Because it is durable and reliable on the road bike and I would highly recommend this product to Every Cyclist and I'am a Avid Cyclist in my life. I have never complained about Shimano Ultegra Products.
so far so good
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Chain seems just as good as sram but I do like using a quick link over having to push a pin to connect the chain.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Does what it is suppose to. Can't complain
Good all-around chain with limitations
The 6701 is a reasonably-priced chain that works well on Shimano 10 speed configurations, but there are some drawbacks that come with the savings. It shifts reasonably well with both Di2 and mechanical configurations, but I think it's more abrupt than the Wipperman 10S1 or the DA chain, espcially if you are a frequent shifter or tend to shift under torque. The Shimano attachment link is a pain, do yourself a favor and buy a Connex link to use on this chain and other Shimano and Wipperman chains too.
Also I have had to replace 2 of these chains due to cracking a plate during sprints. It presents itself with a "TING!" sound, and while it will almost certainly make it back home, you'll want to lay off the sprints until you get home and replace it. The picture attached is a piece of a DA-7900 chain broken the same way, as an example of what to look for.
I say that I have used it several times because I was given 2 of these free, and broke each of them within 1,000 miles.
Not for triple cranks!
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
This chain is not recommended for those running a triple FC. Shimano recommends the older Ultegra 6600 chain for triples. LBS folks also suggested an XT/XTR chain as an alternate.
Handles the beatings just fine!
Does this chain fit the Ultegra 6800?
Is this chain really for a ten speed bike?...
Is this chain really for a ten speed bike? Two sprocket front, five sprocket freewheel?
This chain is made for 20-speed drive train - which is two rings in front, and 10 in the back. I wouldn't get this for that set-up.
