An exciting redesign.
If you haven't heard about Shimano's new redesign of SLX, we don't think it's a stretch to say you'll be seeing a lot more of it out on singletrack soon. SLX has always been a reliable choice for off-road rigs, but this year, it debuts with fresh trickle-down technology from pricier Deore XT in a classy redesign. Shimano still bills SLX as its affordable, workhorse groupset, but the brand has raised the bar on what workhorse actually means, delivering an incredibly capable mix of componentry that functions better than its price should suggest. The SLX FD-M7025-E 2x11 Front Derailleur is no exception to that description; if you're looking to hang onto your granny gear to make climbing more enjoyable, the FD-M7025-E makes a capable addition to your setup.
Shimano built its SLX front derailleurs in a huge range of pull and mount types, with this version working as a down pull, E-type. Aside from its routing and mounting specifications, it's exactly the same as the rest of the group. Shimano focused on constructing its SLX front derailleurs to better integrate with modern trail and long-travel enduro bike geometries, with their snappy rear triangles governed by stubby chainstays. The FD-M7025-E promises to fit cleanly and function reliably in the presence of an energetic rear suspension and triangle. Graceful steps from small to big ring and back again define the front derailleur's new design, offering precision when you throw the lever heading into a tough climb, along with the signature longevity that Shimano componentry displays over the miles, and years.
