SH-XM7 Cycling Shoe
When you're planning an epic bikepacking adventure, you don't want to rely on just any old pair of off-road shoes to get you through it. You need shoes that will protect your feet from unexpected weather conditions, walk well, and survive the rigors of adventure. The Shimano Men's SH-XM7 Bike Shoes have all of those boxes covered with a Gore-Tex liner, durable upper, and a grippy Vibram sole. With an outsole stiffness rating of three, which falls solidly on the comfort side of the comfort vs. competition spectrum, these shoes are built for functionality for long hours in the saddle and while setting up camp on foot, and they promise durability to last over the miles.
Shimano fashions the SH-XM7's upper from nubuck leather with rubber reinforcement around the toe box for stability and protection. A waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex liner protects your feet from sudden rain squalls and other inclement weather to keep your toes toasty and dry. Laces span the top of the shoe for easy adjustment and a customized fit, and a hook-and-loop strap across the top of the foot holds the laces in place and provides an extra dose of support.
Underfoot, a Vibram outsole provides grippy traction over rocks, roots, and other obstacles, while a half-length shank plate provides excellent walkability. To cap things off, shock-absorbing EVA foam increases comfort on and off the bike.

Seemed to be well made but unfortunately they were too small & my size is sold out. I wanted these to replace some old ones that also had the velcro strap to control the laces. Love the Shimano bike-hike shoes. Will wait for the next model.

Recommended, laces are lame.
Appear to be a quality well built shoe. Size is true. 12-mile first ride was comfortable. Good power transfer to the petals. Waterproofing was only minimally tested and remains TBD. Laces prevent 5 star rating. Very awkward under the Velcro strap. Replacing them with speed laces will be in order (avail for under $10 - really Shimano??). Overall recommended.

Didn't work out
These are well made and has more room than prior Shimano shoes I've owned. I had two 15 mile rides on these and for whatever reason my left foot would rub on the outside of my foot which almost blistered. I tried different socks and footbed on the second ride with no success. Odd because I've never had this occur with a Shimano mtb shoe.

all-round touring, mtb, commuting shoe
- I've used it several times
Got these for bike commuting...I'm so used to clipless pedals that flats aren't appealing. Comfort is good. Cleats recess (egg beater) nicely so no clicking around when walking pavement or hard floors indoors etc., The well for the cleats is appropriately sized--no issue clipping in. Not much use yet but early impressions from some commuting and a mountain bike ride is they'll hold up (no separation anywhere). Deducting a star for the velcro strap...Its nice to have to keep the laces down (out of drivetrain) but is a pain to have around when tying and untying laces and takes the shoes that would otherwise look like a hiking/outdoorsy shoe into the realm of "what is that shoe for?". My older shimano touring shoes had a simple vecro tab sewn into the tongue you put the speed laces into--that worked well. Those shoes, however, had cleat clank on hard surfaces. Maybe a blend of the best features for future iterations...

- I've put it through the wringer
These are great. I really couldn't have gotten anything better. I love these shoes! They are very comfortable on the bike. They can absolutely be used as walking shoes off the bike. I recently had to wear them as walking shoes for a full day and I had no problems. Perfect fit, great bike shoe, great walking shoe. This was my first venture into clipless bike shoes and I couldn't be happier.

- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have a customer that wanted to share his sizing experience with these. He got the high tops in the 43, but these seem to run smaller, so he got the 44's. His street shoe size is a 9.5 or 10 in most shoes.

Fantastic all-around bike shoe
- I've used it several times
- True to size
I just bought a pair of these and used them this past weekend, and they are fantastic. They were great for hike-a-bike situations and really dug in when going through slick mud. Also they were comfortable enough to wear for hours without any discomfort. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a good quality, comfortable, all-around MTB shoe.
