Why We Like The ME702 Cycling Shoe

Shimano's ME702 all-mountain shoe finds a unique balance of blending XC lightness with enduro durability in an value-oriented package. The synthetic upper of the ME702 buckles down for a comfortable, secure fit, without sacrificing much to more performance-focused dials closures. And the speed laces tuck nicely under the top cover. A Michelin rubber sole provides traction for footing in the berms as well as stiffness for the accelerations.

A reinforced heel stabilizer holds your feet in place to ensure you don't lose any power on challenging ascents, while the carbon midsole keeps things responsive and lightweight. And made on Shimano's Volume+ Last, the ME702 offers a bit more wiggle room in the toe box for comfort on bashy root and rock gardens.

I love these shoes!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I recently ordered a pair of the Shimano ME702 shoes and these things are super comfortable. I bought 2 different pairs of the popular brand shoes before these and they both were very uncomfortable. My feet would start hurting and going numb after about 15 minutes of riding. I have ridden for up to 2 hours with the Shimano ME702's with no pain whatsoever. I am very happy with them. I wear size 10.5 in most shoes. I ordered a size 45 and they fit perfectly.

Ordered a 46 but it was really small. On the box it said US 10.5. Way off!

great shoe, bad velcro

i bought these shoes in april of 2021. excellent on the bike and decent when hike-a-biking off the bike. my only complaint is that the velcro has continuously gotten less sticky and now just mostly flaps around. ive tried cleaning the velcro and it didnt seem to help. im trying to figure out a way to fix this... i may just permanently seal the flap. would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the velcro.

Best Trail/Enduro Shoe I've Tried

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Excellent pedaling efficiency compared to other enduro shoes. Works excellent on steep hike a bikes. Lasts a respectable amount of time and has great foot protection. Works well in most weather conditions as well.

One big flaw with this shoe

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
8.5

There’s one big flaw with this shoe: the top buckle strap stretches and loosens with use. I found that I have to stop every 20 min or so to retighten the strap. Very frustrating. Also, after only 3 months of use the strap has permanently stretched and even when I tighten the buckle all the way it still feels loose. Given the price point, I expected more from Shimano. They need to fix this because it’s a great shoe otherwise.

Best shoes ever

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

After two years with the Shimano ME 7, I say that they are not only the most comfortable mountain bike shoes I have owned, but they are practically the most comfortable shoes I have, period. Two years in, they have been soaked dozens of times and come back for more. They also have an excellent balance of stiffness vs walkability. They work with Shimano pedals with no funky modification of the sole. I have owned pretty much every brand of mountain shoes including Specialized, Giro, Lake and other Shimano models. These have been by far the best and appear to be ready for another two years.

Ordered these Shimano MTB shoes for wet weather riding with a bit of hesitation due to price. Turns out these things are great for all types of conditions. Fit is great, comfortable and keep feet dry . Love the ratchet system as it is simple and quick.Ankle gaiter keeps dirt out of shoe which is an added bonus. You won?t regret spending the extra cash for these bad boys!

Poor design, not durable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The flimsy plastic where the ratchet is mounted snapped from the ratchet and strap being tightened. This part is not replaceable and now the shoes are garbage. The shoe should be durable enough to handle the tension of being tightened. The shoes still had low hours and were barely broken in. Don't waste your money.

At three weeks, and daily rides these are marvelous. If they last 6 months I'll do an update!

Poor fit and poor ventilation

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

The shoe size ran so big I had to send it back ($7 cost), and the construction details have changed to allow less ventilation. I had the exact same shoes for years and now this. They sound have made a new model number
