    Get yourself some new kicks.

Contrary to what you might think, investing in a pair of shoes to go clipless on your downhill rig doesn't have to be expensive. Once you get used to Shimano's lightweight, comfort-focused men's SH-AM5 Mountain Bike Shoes, you might even forget you aren't wearing your favorite pair of beat-up trail shoes. While you take advantage of the improved efficiency and power transfer of clipless pedals, the SH-AM5s' durable synthetic leather construction and mid-top design will protect your feet from rocks, branches, and other natural hazards, while the lace-up closure and reinforcing strap provide a secure fit.

    Bulky and Heavy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

If you are just getting into MTB and have not worn anything else these will work perfectly, however if you have been riding for a while I would get these. They are really heavy and bulky, but you get what you pay for.

    They're Okay.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 43

The euro fitting is a bit wonky, I tried riding with my suggested size and they were just too tight. I just returned them and hopefully, the next size-up fits better.
The quality of the shoes doesn't really strike me as $100 worth of shoe. The insoles are very thin and there is nothing between the insole and the big cut out for the spd cleats. The 661 shoes that they replaced are the same style, slightly better quality and I purchased those for almost half the price.
    The positives of these shoes:
-Will def. get the job done.
-Don't make you look like a tool bag like most spd shoes.
-Lacing and velcro strap make for asecure fit.

Great shoe for just starting out

I am not the most experienced biker but love these shoes. I they are extremely comfortable and durable. They feel like they will last for the long haul and the reinforced upper and sole feel like they can take a hit.
