105 CS-R7000 Cassette
Shimano's 105 group continues to lead the charge where performance to dollar value matters in its road group range and it fully benefits from the technology featured in its Ultegra and Dura-Ace components. The new R7000 group keeps this tradition alive and well and the 105 CS-R7000 Cassette is a shining example of a race-worthy cogset that the self-sponsoring racer can truly appreciate. Shift ramping and tooth profiles mirror that of its top-tier groups which provide nearly-identical shifting performance with only a slight increase in weight separating it from its pricier siblings. Weather and wear-resistant nickel plated steel cogs and an aluminum spider carrier helps boost the durability and creates plenty of stiffness for crisp shifts and it's fully compatible across all Shimano 11-speed road groups. Additionally, the cog ranges on offer are 11-28, 11-30, and 11-32 teeth which provide ideal ratios for tackling long canyon climbs and blistering descents on the other side and please note that the 11-32t needs a long cage derailleur while the other options are designed for medium length cages.

One of the heaviest of the top tier level Shimano cassettes, but these do the job well like their counterpart (Ultegra and Dura Ace). Picking out your gear ratios are a personal thing. For me, I got the 11-30t (weighing around ~285g) and running a standard 53/39 crank. I'm able to push up 8-11% gradient hills without burning out (still a suffer effort) and speed through flats. I'm pretty happy with this gear ratio so far and weight on these aren't a big issue.

Works as expected on smart trainer
- I've used it several times
Works as you'd expect, using it on a smart trainer and it installed easily and works fine.

Awesome! That is my reason for purchasing this cassette.

On the back of its blue box, the CS R8000 has a diagram that seems to show that it is 1.8 mm narrower overall than a normal 11 speed cassette. Is this also true for the CS R7000? Do these two have the same convex dishing of the back of the spider as the CS HG 700, which WILL fit on a 10 speed freehub body?

Will this work with the elite direto bike trainer. Is this or the 5700 series better with the direto? Does 11x28 or 11x32 make a difference when on a bike trainer? Thank you!

Hello Leor, Yes this cassette will work in fact any Shimano/SRAM 9/10/11 speed cassette will work on this trainer. If you have Campy you would need a different freehub body. As for the size of the cassette I usually run a 11/28 on my trainers however if you wanted to go bigger that would depend on the what your derailleur is capable of handling in cassette size. The trainer itself should not have any issues running any short, mid, or long cage derailleurs.
