    Pro treatment.

Selle SMP’s uniquely designed saddle features a wide cutout to reduce pressure from the inside of the saddle, while also giving you a medium to wide platform to support your pelvis. The shape of the nose is distinct and it serves to provide a flat base while seated. Some riders, especially TT specialists, prefer to tip the nose down to the UCI legal limit to remove the pressure they would normally feel when they sit on the nose. The back of the saddle has a slight upward sweep to keep you in place and avoid sliding back and forth along the saddle during uphill efforts. This reduces additional friction and discomfort. It also helps to reduce pressure on the coccyx.

The Pro uses elastomer foam that gives just enough to provide vibration dampening. The foam is wrapped in leather for the black version and Lorica for the colored versions. The shell was constructed of a solid nylon-carbon composite on stainless steel rails.

    Best saddle I've ever found!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I spent years trying to find a saddle that I could stand for extended rides. Annually, I ride between 7,000 and 8,000 road miles, all on my road bikes. I'm almost 60. I need comfort in a racing saddle. This one fits the bill. I've tried others but always return to this one.

I've bought two of theses saddles......

and both have fallen apart. Get used to re-glueing the saddle cover to the frame. For what they cost these saddles start coming unglued way to fast. I've put 15,000+ miles on two of these saddles.

    An investment in comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My last saddle lasted 8 years and had 1000's of miles on it. When I started having numbness issues, I decided it was time for a replacement. Exhaustive research led me to the Selle SMP Pro. I was a bit nervous about the level of comfort it might provide, but it has not let me down. I have ridden about 600 miles on it since August of this year, and feel like it only took about half of the miles to break it in properly. I would agree with SMP's claim that it is the world's most ergonomic bike seat. I am 6'0 170lbs and the size is just right for me. Highly recommend, especially if you are experiencing numbness and pain from riding. This saddle is the cure.

Great seat for rough New Jersey roads

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I went through 8 bad saddles before getting this one. Two of those saddles I'm stuck with, one I returned, and the others were borrowed. I kept going numb with these other saddles when riding Island Beach State Park down the jersey shore. That road is so bad, its like someone punching your crotch every 5 seconds. With those other selle italia, specialized, and fizik seats, you'd be numb for a whole day and a half after riding that road. With this smp pro saddle there is none of that, it's great! On top of that the red color matches my bike perfectly and I love the Italian flag ornaments on the seat which also matches my Italian bike. The seat is awesome, I'll be recommending it to anyone who has seat numb issues.

    --- Update March 25, 2015 ---

I noticed recently that the white stiched text "SMP" has started to discolor. The white text is starting to turn black. I hand wash all of my bike clothes so it's possible that the black dye in my black bib shorts/tights never fully comes out and it could also be due to the dye that is in Dark Woolite laundry soap. I tried to clean the stiched letters on the seat with a shout wipe but it didn't seem to help. This is a minor complaint, the seat is still comfortable. I also bought a second SMP Pro seat in black to use on a bike I'm building this year.
