The original Selle Italia Flite Saddle hit the market over two decades ago, winning over the hearts and bikes of cyclists everywhere. Since then, this saddle has been a go-to for riders looking for that perfect blend of performance and comfort. With the newest version of the Flite, Selle Italia throws in a couple of tweaks to improve the ride while keeping the classic features we all love.
The Flite features a carbon-reinforced nylon base that provides support while also allowing just enough flex to smooth out road and trail vibrations. A slightly shorter length than previous Flights allows this saddle to cut a narrower nose profile for better leg clearance while maintaining a similar tail width to perch your sit bones on. With a quick-drying Lorica cover nestled over just the right amount of padding, the Selle Italia Flite Saddle will get you comfortably through everything from a short, flat criterium to a double century in the mountains.

Not Your Father's Flite Saddle
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Saddles are very personal, and people tend to stick with what they know ... and when things change it can cause some consternation.
You can tell right away if a saddle is going to be wrong, and for me, the new Flite is about as wrong as it gets.
This Flite saddle is quite literally not from the same mold as the original Flite introduced in 1990; and as far as I'm concerned, that's not a good thing. It's much flatter, both fore-aft and left-right, and for my butt, it just does not work.
As long as I can find them, I'll stick with the reissued Flite 1990 version, or with the Fabric Scoop saddles, which is the closest modern saddle I've found with the classic Flite shape.
3-stars because it's top quality, like most Selle Italia saddles (5-stars), but it's a torture device for my rear end (1-star).
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I needed a wide, flat saddle to fit my wide, fat ass. This fits perfectly! I can ride for hours without even noticing it. What better endorsement for a saddle?
