Packaging Damage wear thru

I just returned both the 40 & 70 liter Sealine Zip Duffle Bag back to Backwoods. Both bags arrived with damage. The bag is folded over and put into a cardboard sleeve by the manufacture for sale. At the fold line on both bags the PVC was worn thru the material to the white substrate. If this bag gets this type of damage just from packaging I can just imagine what it will look like after being dragged down the "Grand". I'm going to contact SeaLine and say "what's up?." Now the good news, getting these bags from was fast and the return was painless. Keep up the good work.

Sealine Zip Duffle - Great Bag

Mississippi River Canoe Solo - Departing early August. These are great bags. I have used them on several gear checkout trips and they are perfect, water tight, low profile, etc. So tight they even work as a great pillow in the tent. I have spent the last two years testing gear and have found so much BS on the Internet by way of reviews it's become exhausting, but these are the real deal. I'm also taking the Pro Pack for the volume and portage. Granted the closure isn't as watertight, but most of the time your suspposed to be IN the canoe, and the closure of the Pro Pack is very good and remains well above the bottom of the canoe with normal water accumulation. I've tried several top brands which are good, but for me, these are my choice.

Super Bag - Fully Waterproof

I love this bag. It's completely air-tight. When you close the zip it's like a ballon - you squeeze it but no air comes out which means no water can get in. The reason it's a 4* rather than 5* review is a minor gripe. There are no end handles and the handles it has don't feel particularly comfortable. However, they minimise handles to minimise the number of welds and possible leaks so it's understandable. Overall, a great bit of kit if you want to keep your stuff 100% dry.

is there a way to carry like a backpack...

is there a way to carry like a backpack and can you lock the zipper when I fly? thanks

What is the best rubber lubricant to use...

What is the best rubber lubricant to use on the zipper for maintenance?

I would try a little dry graphite if the zipper is sticking.

Not sure about dry graphite, although I believe it would work (never tried it myself), but one thing I would recommend is cleaning it as thoroughly as possible with a nylon brush, dish soap (or pack soap) and water. I would then lightly lube it with silicon (find it an any hardware store). You don't want too much as it will attract dirt, but a light coating will allow it slide smoothly with less abrasion. The abrasion is what wears out the sliders and can damage the teeth. This is also a good idea for tents, packs, etc.

Bees wax works well on waterproof zippers. You can buy it in bars and you just take it and run it along the zipper. Should keep it clean and lubricate it.

will this bag hold up to airline travel?

will this bag hold up to airline travel?

I would think so, they seem to be durable. The only concern I would have would be the handle straps. I would want to tape them down so they do not catch something in the conveyors.

I'm searching for a waterproof duffle I...

I'm searching for a waterproof duffle I can strap to the back of a motorcycle that is Waterproof. This bag says its waterproof, but with an exposed zipper (even with a flap), can it be as waterproof as say a Rolltop? Has anyone really tested this bag in a downpour for hours at a time with the wind blowing across the top at 70mph?

Not on the back of a motorcycle, but a friend of mine has one, and he brought it with us on a trip to Jasper a little while back. It was in the box of the truck, pouring rain going about 110 km/h and was completely dry to the touch on the outside as soon as we were out of the storm, and was bone dry inside when we arrived.

I just use a regular dry bag on my motorcycle. I was off road going through streams nothing got wet.

Look at the SealLine website. This is MORE waterproof then a roll-top. Rated for 1meter for 30 mins.

The seal line 40L bag dimensions do not...

The seal line 40L bag dimensions do not add up. The bag dimensions equal 3552 cu. inches. It is advertised at 2400 cu in. The size matters here. Need a clarification

The reason why the dimensions don't match up to the measurements is because the bag is oval. The actual measurements are closer to 10" x 13" x 24". It depends if you include the overlapping seam... The "D" shape bag is probably what throws off the cu. in. dimensions. When filled with water it will hold 42L exactly.
