runs small

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I ordered size EU 44 = US size 10.5-11.0 if properly converted, which fits me on all other shoes I own. But this one is way too short. Turns out their size conversion is wrong, as the shoe label says EU 44, US 10. That conversion is simply wrong. I fault this shoe maker for not getting their math straight, thereby misleading customers and wasting my time.

The Scott MTB AR Cycling Shoe: A Review

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

44

Unpopular opinion: Flat pedals are superior...Well with the right footwear anyhow. After a spring-full of riding some gnarly Colorado trails, my Vans are looking less like a skate shoe and more like a pair of sandals. It's a wonder that I even have any shoes left. After much deliberation(with my bank account), I decided to try out a pair of actual flat pedal shoes. Enter Scott MTB AR Cycling Shoes. Now I initially chose these as an alternative to the $150 five-ten options(seriously Adidas?!?), but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the shoes when they arrived. Although Scott is known more for their bike than the shoes they sell, you still get a well built and great looking shoe for nearly half the price of a five-ten or Shimano. The first thing I noticed when trying them on for the first time was the snug fit. If you have a wide foot or are looking for a comfortable all-day shoe, look elsewhere. Although not for everyone, I prefer the snug fit as it limits the movement of your foot on the pedals. If this concerns you, I would recommend buying one size(or half size) up. Definitely not an every day, kick around town shoe?.although they are styling. HOW DO THEY PERFORM? The Pros: I have used these ?sticki? soles for a few rides now and can say with confidence that they work as intended. On pedals with pins, they work wonders. Even after multiple rides, I haven't noticed the bottom rubber breaking down or ?crumbling? as sometimes happens with cheaper soles. As far as durability goes, they have held up well to a fair bit of thrashing. I Will update if issues arise. The Cons: If you ride consistently in wet conditions, I wouldn't recommend these beauties. After heading out into a rainstorm, I quickly realized that the ?sticki? rubber becomes ?slicki? rubber. Northwest riders beware. The Decree: 8.5/10 Happy Points.

Perfectly Snug Fit for XC

Fantastic grip and fit. My ancient pair of Avocet flat pedal shoes finally gave out, and I upgraded to these. I float in between euro sizing 41 and 42, and the 41 was the way to go. The leather/fabric combo allows for enough circulation in the toes, without compromising dexterity and pedal contact.
