Award-winning head protection.
Your brain is easily your most important asset, and Scott isn't willing to mess around with that. A winner of the 2017 ISPO Gold Award, the Symbol 2 Plus D is the safest and most well-ventilated helmet Scott has ever created. The in-mold construction maintains a low-profile, lightweight design, while increasing protection and durability.
Scott included D3O inserts, a highly shock-absorbing material, to add protection against multiple impacts, as well as MIPS technology which helps protect against angled impacts. Scott pulled out all the bells and whistles to make sure your head doesn't overheat in the Symbol 2 Plus D, with a Dual Active venting system that regulates airflow and dumps heat in the front and top area, as well as a Passive Goggle venting system to keep your lenses fog-free.

- Q & A
Solid - Comfortable - Lightweight Helmet
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I was given the Scott Helmet Symbol 2 Plus D from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I received a black medium sized helmet. Measuring in at 23 ¼â, I was right on the cusp of a medium/large. The medium fit perfectly both with and without a balaclava and with and without a hooded base layer. The helmetâs sizing and adjusting features make for a fabulous fit. The hood on my jacket also fit perfectly over the helmet (Patagonia shell). I wore this while skiing at Jay Peak, which is a very cold and windy East Coast mountain and I was still very warm. Should it be a warm ski day or if you are skinning up, there are two top vents (front & rear) for cooling down. As far as goggles that work with it, naturally the Scott worked best. I also wore a pair of Smith I/O with them and they paired properly as well. I usually wear Glade goggles and they did not fit well with the Scott Helmet Symbol 2 Plus D, leaving a significant âjoey gapâ. The comfort of the helmet is topnotch with a large, adjustable, fleece lined chinstrap. My ears stayed warm and were wrapped in comfort; the helmet is also extremely lightweight. I have had helmets in the past that have made my neck sore or have felt heavy; this was not the case with the Scott Helmet Symbol 2 Plus D. Others have commented on the 360 pure sound and I must admit I didnât notice a difference, however, I will definitely pay closer attention next weekend.
360 sound is a real plus!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Okay I didn't think that 360 sound mattered until I tried a different helmet that didn't offer it. I seriously can't hear in other helmets, and this helmet you can hear literally everything so clear! It's awesome. Lots of other great features but seriously 360 sound is incredible.
Low Profile, Great Venting & Fit
Helmet is a great low profile design and feels like it is really attached to my head. The ease of opening the vents is awesome and there are two different venting switches, one in the front to let air in the two front vents and another in the back that opens up a large number of vent holes on the top. I like this since it allows you to really dial in the temperature, when really cold close em up, in between open one of them, heated up after hard charging open all the way. Also very easy to access the dial size adjustment. The pure sound design seems like it will really allow me to hear the surroundings.
Best ski lid out there
Been using this helmet for over a season now and canât say enough great things about it. Great fit and super comfortable. Between that and the amazing sound quality from the ear pads you donât even notice itâs on.
Scott Symbol II Plus D
What an awesome helmet from Scott Sports. This helmet is the most comfortable I have ever worn. The D3O material is soft and comfy in those areas that helmets typically pinch. The fit system makes it easy on and off and allows for a custom fit. The 360 sound is like nothing I have ever experienced. I can hear, directionally, through the earpads and they do not let the wind and cold through. Really cool!
Scott 360 Pure Sound
Scott's proprietary 360 Pure Sound is unmatched in the industry. This tech not only allows you to hear while keeping your ears toasty warm, it allows you to hear directionally, so you know when the creepers are creeping.
Is this helmet compatible with Smith googles? Audio capable?
