    Feeling European

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

What is Euro Nymphing? A giant pain. But also very effective. I use 5x fluoro tippet for my euro rig to ensure fish don't see the leader when attempting to drift nymphs straight into their mouths.

    First Time User

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just picked up some Sci Anglers tippet for the first time since i started buying Tippet. The tippet worked just fine and held up to many a fish on the Madison RIver. The only reason I am giving it 4/5 and not 5/5 is due to the diameter of 5x being the same as Rio but the lb test rating being lower on sci anglers.

We did snap some fish off through the quicker current sections of the river and it will leaving me curious to know if that extra lb test rating on Rio could have prevented it. Regardless, would still highly recommend the tippet.

    The good stuff

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great tippet - relatively inexpensive, invisible, durable, great knot strength. Just about the only stuff I use for light applications (0X - 6X). Love the cutter they put on the spool, one less thing I've gotta grab a tool for.

    Flurocarbon tippet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just ordered a whole size range from 2x-7x tippet. This stuff works great! super strong and durable.
Would recommend this to anyone that fly fishes.

    Great tippet

I always fish fluorocarbon tippet. It is so strong and scientific anglers really made an excellent line here. I have used rio tippet and orvis tippet as well and this is my favorite so far. Haven't snapped the tippet on any trout yet. Play em' right or don't. This tippet is pretty bomber

      Fluorocarbon 5x tippet

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am a beginner fly fisherman and lately i have been snapping flies every 5 casts or so. With this tippet being much stronger than what I have been using, I haven't snapped nearly as much flies as before. Need to work on my casting still but this tippet has helped me save money on flies!

      Bigger Fish, More Fish

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Fluorocarbon is the extra edge you need for fishing emergers, nymphing rigs and big streamers. Critical for clear water as fluorocarbon is nearly the same refraction index as water making it nearly invisible. Finally, it is much more abrasion resistant so whether you are getting tangled in the willows of a trout creek or the mangroves in the Keys, the extra nicks and cuts in your line will be better handled with fluorocarbon tippet. Keep both regular monofilament and fluorocarbon.

Wouldn't go with anything else for trout

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Fluro tippet is the best stuff around for trout. Don't use a Fluro leader except when nymphing, but always use Fluro tippet.
Isn't biodegradable so don't leave scraps lying around.
