Schwalbe's Rocket Ron has always been a tried and true tire loved by many, and this new iteration is sure to be well received. The tread pattern balances proportion between lugs, with enough spacing for proper mud shed and reduced rolling resistance. Paired with light weight, durable compound for low rolling resistance and high speed charging, the Addix Speedgrip compound is super universal, good for anything from cross country to all mountain and trail. It replaced the previously used PaceStar compound, boosting durability massively, adding grip, and better damping than the compound we'd loved for many years. This makes for a tire ready to roll for more miles and a longer life. The sidewalls are reinforced with SnakeSkin protection to defend against punctures and tears from rough terrain that bites back, and does its best to keep you from ending up stranded when you're pushing the limits in the backcountry among fell trees and sharp shale. At 2.6-inches in width, this tire walks the line perfectly between a standard tire and a plus tire, giving you an extra plush ride and grip, without the necessary tire clearance of a plus bike.
- Lightweight quick rolling XC tire designed for versatility
- Open-design tread pattern for mud shedding and high speed
- Addix Speedgrip compound boosts durability, damping, and grip
- Girthy 2.6 in tire for plush ride and increased traction
- Item #SCH002J

Cushion, grip, speed.
I'm 65 and 165 lbs. I had been running the 2.6 Rocket Rons in a SS, Pacestar, TE and really loved the tire. Still do, but these set the bar just a little higher. I got one tire and mounted it on the back of a Yeti SB5 version 1 on an Ibis 742 wheel, inner width 35mm. I'm running it at 16psi (that's not a misprint, and it's what I ran the Pacestar at as well) and after mounting, immediately got 2 new PR's on my next two rides. For those of you familiar with the Wasatch back, the first PR was on Sweeny's-John's (rocky, rooty climb, about 40 minutes) and the second was on a 45 minute segment of Flying Dog (smooth hardpack). The Addix material on the RoRo replaces the Pacestar, I believe. On these rims, at this pressure, they measure 2.59. The blue stripe goes away after a hundred miles or so.

Are you still loving this tire? I had some in 29" pacestar flavor and was a big fan, but the durability left a little to be desired.
