Vapor V Climbing Shoe

You can expect at least one send on your numerous lifelong projects when you upgrade to the Scarpa Women's Vapor V Climbing Shoe. This shoe focuses on precise footwork over a variety of footholds, both overhung and vertical. Bi-Tension randing reverses standard slingshot rands in order to connect your toe to your heel, instead of uncomfortably bunching your toes toward the front of the shoe. The result is a more powerful performance, assisting any movement from technical static moves to huge dynamic jumps.

Scarpa made the Vapor V's upper out of stretchy, soft, and strong suede, so expect a bit of stretch after some use. The air mesh gusseted tongue enhances the upper's overall comfort, and it prevents debris from falling in. The Talyn midsole is on the stiffer side, but the Vibram XS Grip 2 sole keeps the Vapor V in its slightly downturned, asymmetric shape. The slight downturn feels excellent on technical vertical routes as well as overhung boulder problems.

  • Climbing shoe designed for technical routes and overhung boulders
  • Moderate downturn balances precision with comfort
  • Microsuede upper stretches to conform to your footshape
  • Vibram XS Grip 2 rubber sole specialized for slipperier stones
  • Item #SCR008S

Good shoe

I've used it several times

Love climbing with this shoe. Good at small edges and still comfy. Fits very small - I went up almost a size and a half from my street shoe size. Con: My only complaint would be that the velcro on top is rather large and can get in the way of toe hooks or any sort of crack climbing.

Very true to size

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I did 4 stars because I just demoed these shoes on our office wall and wanted to report back on the sizing. I do like the fit and performance of the Vapor V and would readily recommend these. I felt safe on the small feet and could edge well, so they are a go! I am a size 8.5/9.0 US Womens. My hiking size is typically a 9.0, but I am sometimes an 8.5. Out of the box the 41's fit comfortably, but they slouched, as soon as I got on the wall. So, I went down to the 40's which felt like a really good performance fit. But, the first climb really hurt the tips of my toes a lot. I thought maybe I would just get used to them and break the shoes/my feet in. But, I decided to try the 40.5's. So, that brings goldilocks to the 3rd option, the 40.5. They were just right! They performed well and didn't hurt at all until after about 30 minutes of steady climbing, which is pretty dang sweet for the first go.

Great All -Around Shoe

I've put it through the wringer

I used to be a huge lover of the La Sportiva Women's Katana. I was absolutely heartbroken when they discontinued that shoe. Since then, I've struggled to find a shoe that is aggressive but not overly downturned. The Vapor V is one of the only shoes I've found that meets that challenge. I love this shoe for sport climbing and bouldering. The sole is stiff enough and the shoe itself is quite comfy. I went down a full size from my street shoe.

Perfect Fit

Street shoe: 7 Size purchased for an aggressive/performance fit: 37.5 These fit my feet just right! fits around the ankle bone perfectly and fits snugly around my heel. The rubber is awesome and sticks to the wall on any climb. The uncomfortable fit started to ease after the first use and breaks in pretty quickly.
