High quality that won't break the bank.

The Scarpa Reflex Climbing Shoe offers a straightforward footwear option that's designed to get you on the rock without putting you in the poor house. Cinch down dual power straps and enjoy the comfort of a suede upper without a bunch of unnecessary (and expensive) bells and whistles. But don't worry, Scarpa didn't cheap out on quality; a super-sticky TAC 100 sole provides plenty of friction to send.

    Not for Wide feet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I bought a 9.5 which is fairly true to fit in most shoes... and although I could wear these for a few hours, calling them comfortable would be a bit generous. So far they've held up fairly well, but after a long days climb, I usually wish I would have gotten a half size larger, contrary to the claims of stretching a half size.

    Great for a beginner

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 42.5
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 169lbs

I've owned this product for just a few weeks now and have used it several times both in and outdoors, and I'm very satisfied with the shoe. It's comfortable and quick to put on or take off, but that convenience comes at the cost of fit. Overall the shoe is well constructed, comfortable, and convenient, though it could be a little more supportive.

The materials are high quality. I don't have any worries that the shoe will hold up under frequent use and that it'll provide a great deal of value for the money I spent on it. The straps are thick, there is plenty of velcro, and all the stitching is very reinforced.

Finding just the right size is a little tough for a novice like me, and I don't think I quite nailed it here. I wish I had gone just a half size smaller. I originally bought 43.5 and ended up getting a 42.5. A 42 would have been even better. I wear about an 8.5 US shoe and find this shoe runs a little large, though your mileage may vary.

    Climbing Performance
I'm very much a beginner. As of writing this I've been climbing, primarily in a gym, for a couple months, and I'm happy with this shoe, especially compared to the rentals. However, I don't know what a good climbing shoe is. It's a bit like getting a review of a restaurant from a three year old: sure they'll tell you if they liked the food, but what the f**k do they know about food anyway?

The shoes could use better lacing as well. The velcro is convenient but it's now very supportive. There are times when I pull so hard I think I'm going to rip the shoe (a testament to their construction that I don't). If you're looking for more support then a laced shoe may be a better place to go.

Honestly, I feel weird bringing this one up, but feet get stank. I tend to take my shoes off between climbs, so they aren't in them for longer than 10-15 minutes at a time. Even so, the shoes don't breath particularly well, and they can get a little funk going. I'm guessing this isn't a feature of the shoe so much as my own unfortunate biology.

    Great Feel, Lacks Sole

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 46.5
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 236lbs

Beginner shoe fits like a glove and doesn't hurt your feet. Soles are too flexible for beginners though. Rubber is not very grippy either, which is a bummer for someone trying to build confidence when starting out. If the shoe had better rubber and more support on the sole, it would be five stars.

I have now purchased several of these shoes for my growing sons feet. He loves the fit and performance. I love the natural leather and great price. He has had his recent pair for about six months of regular climbing and they are holding up incredibly well.

    Great Shoe

This is a well made shoe great for all types of climbing. I found it to be even better than several more expensive options. The fact that this is super affordable is an additional bonus to a very solid shoe.
