    This is where you start.

Before you become a professional crusher of rocks, you have to learn the tricks of the trade in the Scarpa Men's Origin Climbing Shoe. Its flat profile and relaxed randing ensure the comfort required to learn how to step on small footholds, and the suede leather upper feels as soft and smooth as a brand-new plastic hold at the climbing gym. Scarpa's Vision rubber sole is proprietary compound that is both sticky and durable in all conditions, so feel free to learn how to climb crack, crimps, plastic, or all the above.

    Good beginner shoes I've heard

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 42.5

Seems like a good shoe but I'm no expert in the climbing world. It feels comfortable on my foot and seems to do the job I want.

Great Shoe for all around climbing.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Runs true to size, a nine in a street shoe (vans) is 42 in this shoe. Comfy for long climbing sessions and great for a beginner to intermediate climbers. If your just getting into climbing this is an affordable option.

    Great gym shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large

If you find yourself in the gym for hours at a time. These shoes are what you want. Super comfortable, and they smear quite nice. Edging on tiny foot holds isn't the best, but what can you expect from entry lvl shoes. Buy them for what they are meant for gym workouts. I had to go a size down from my street size.

    Great basic shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M11

I use this shoe for less technical all day climbs or for the gym. It is very comfortable and has held up well to everything I've put it through. Great shoe for the money, but it is definitely a beginner/basic shoe. You definitely can't beat the price.

    Where it all starts!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This is the go to shoe I recommend to people when they are looking for their first shoe, a shoe that they plan on using in the gym, or putting some mileage in on.

Super comfortable, but solid tight fit. They are perfect for long gym sessions and the durability is a lot better than other brands.

The price also can not be beat for the shoe that you get. I just got a pair of these to help prevent beating up my performance shoes in the gym and warming up!
