Why We Like The Scarpa Maverick Mid GTX Hiking Boot

A lightweight hiking boot that's vegan-friendly, Scarpa's Maverick Mid GTX provides agility and stability for our hiking escapes. The synthetic leather and polyester mesh keep us lighter on our feet, while a GORE-TEX Extended Comfort membrane seals out moisture while letting steamy moisture vapor breathe away. The Maverick may be made for light hiking, but its mid-cut ankle collars and TPU stability shank provide torsional rigidity to protect our feet and ankles as we tackle the trail.

Solid and comfy

Tested against many. They're actually quite well built and comfy. The odd thing is that the heals are wide and your heals slide to right and left. I fixed with added insoles. The front is tighter. The shoes are definitely better than most including Boze and Merrill. They are about equal to Keen but not as good as Salomon. Hokas beat in comfort but I doubt they last as Long as Scarpas in general.

This is my second pair. I wore them all over Ireland and Scotland over the last two years, and was extremely pleased with performance. No leakage issues, comfortable despite 20000 steps per day over three week trip.

I got this boot a few years ago to lighten the weight on my feet, without going the full trail runner route. The waterproofing has worked for stepping through ankle-deep streams and mud while keeping my feet dry. The traction works well, they're comfortable for many miles at a time, and they've held up well without falling apart. In response to one of the other reviews: don't get these expecting stiff ankle support. Think of them more like high-top trail runners.

Low budget Scarpa boot, even at a discount. Very little ankle support. A soft, mushy feel in general. No better than the average Merrell.

The boots fit well, according to size, and are very comfortable. Nice and light but still very supportive. No backpacking, just walking the dog 1 - 2 miles a day. One month of daily use, still waterproof. Only minor complaint is that the laces have to be pulled fairly tightly through the top two loops to keep your foot from slipping forward, time will tell how long the loops last before pulling out. So far so good!
