Successful First Climb
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I got these shoes for my brother who is relatively new to climbing and needed a second pair of shoes while his first pair is being re-soled. He wanted to give a pair with a hook-and-loop closure style a try since his other pair are lace-ups. He was able to try them out recently right out of the box at the granite slabs of Donner Summit, before winter sets in. He enjoyed the ease with which he could put them on, and mentioned that he preferred the hook and loop closure to lace-ups because they were easier to adjust. Mostly he was stoked about how "grippy" they felt on the thin granite footholds. He is looking forward to his next opportunity to get out and use them!
So far so good!
I bought these shoes for myself because A.) I have big feet for a woman (I wear a 41) and B.) I hate all the colors that are used in women's shoes. I love these shoes. They are an awesome neutral beginner shoe. I originally had La Sportiva Tarantulace in women's and I felt like I just kept slipping off the wall. With these, the grip is much better and I feel way more stable. They are also way more comfortable. I highly recommend these for anyone just beginning or looking for a more neutral type of climbing shoe. Happy climbing!
