Awesome

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I gave these as a gift to my boyfriend who is the pickiest person on the planet when it comes to shoes. He needs a wider shoe that won't slip off his heels and this shoe fits the bill. He is an avid hiker and uses these on all his day hikes. He loves the traction they provide and said the comfort is unprecedented. He also tore his ACL many years ago and needs a comfortable shoe for knee support. I'm happy to report that his knees don't hurt while wearing these shoes!

Great shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 9.5
  • Height: 5'5"
  • Weight: 200lbs

I bought these to use at work. I work in health care and I am on my feet a good portion of the day, walking on carpet and tile covered concrete floors. Fit is great and they are comfortable out of the box. Quality is great and it is a cool looking shoe. Want to buy another pair.

Nothing like the 7s

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

The new 8s might work for some, but they are nothing like the 7s. I was bummed about the missing rock plate, but decided to give them a try since some reviews claimed that the added lug and stack height is enough to protect against impacts. While I think that’s generally true, the net result is a heavier, far less nimble shoe that feels sloppy. Part of this might stem from it being more roomy/larger for a given size. But it also feels like maybe the soft rubber and taller lugs result in a little more wiggle €upon impact and cornering. The difference reminds me of the difference between a German car suspension and that of a Camry. The Camry is soft and floaty, but isn’t as taught and responsive as, say, an Audi. I think this shoe will work for many, but if you really liked the 7s as I did, you should probably at least consider shopping around. These just aren’t the same kind of shoe.

Almost perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 10.5
  • Height: 6'1"
  • Weight: 174lbs

Just finished breaking these in on a 50k race day, for great out of the box with my pressure points. The upper material breathes incredibly well and drains incredibly quickly after a puddle jump, my feet were dry again within four miles. All the seams are welded so I would imagine the material on the upper will last longer than the tread. The foam is very comfortable and offers a comfy ride; however, without a rock plate I would not recommend these shoes for anything over 20 miles as my feet are quite tender from 30 miles on trails. The tread is rugged enough for technical terrain, yet can still handle mellow trails and quick bursts on the road. Light and agile, I never felt as if I had to put in extra work to make the shoes turn over. As far as fit goes, size DOWN a half size., I normally wear an 11 but 10.5 fit much better. These run very large, but after sizing down I was able to find a very percise fit for my narrow low volume foot. Overall I am pretty impressed with how well these shoes handle all terrain, but am disappointed they removed the rock plate from this years version as the peregrine would be a great distance shoe with this feature. As far as a shoe that can handle anything you throw at it, this is top notch.
