Speed/Cadence Sensor

For decades cyclists have spent time meticulously lining up a speed/cadence sensor with its corresponding magnet. We said enough is enough. Those minutes are better spent crushing Strava segments than crouched in the corner of the garage fidgeting with a tiny magnet.

Simply install the battery, orient the sensor to program it for speed or cadence, and mount it on either the non-drive side crank arm or the bikes hub, front or rear will do. Our low-profile Magnetless Speed or Cadence sensor harnesses the advances in accelerometer technology to leave the magnet in the dust along with your competition.

Needs better information on the Saris website

I bought the fluid 3 bike trainer that came with the speed and cadence sensor so I could ride indoors when the weather is bad with the free version of a third party app. I could not get the sensor to work. I searched the web. I contacted Saris. I just could not understand how to get my avatar to move in the app. )n the Saris website, it just seemed to say download Rouvy and connect. I did not want to download Rouvy. So I thought let me share what I did so that maybe if someone else is as illiterate about this as I was, they won't have to struggle as much as I did. First of all, download the app on your computer. It does not work on your phone. Secondly, buy a USB ANT+ dongle for cycling. Thirdly download the drivers for the dongle. Just search for that on the web. Number four, open the device manager from the control panel, look for your dongle, click on it, and update the drivers. Now open your cycling app, click on menu and sensors, and hopefully everything will connect, and your avatar will move. I gave 3 stars because I think the sensor is good, but unfortunately I think the information on the Saris website is sorely lacking. I truly hope customer service reads my review and updates their support section to include a detailed explanation of how to connect to third party apps along with driver downloads so that the next person who buys this product can just look on the Saris website and find all the information they need. I really hope this review helps.

Big Addition

It was a great addition to my trainer. And it was easy to set up.

The instructions are incorrect.

The instructions say to place the battery inside the cab and then placed the cap and battery inside the sensor battery compartment. That is actually not the case. You have to put the battery in underneath the battery prong because the prongs inside the battery compartment don’t stick up high enough. Thank you have to take a screwdriver or something and bend the other crawl up high enough so that it makes contact with the cap. Then you can put the battery compartment cap on and it will connect if you did all that right. It should just work. He shouldn’t have to use a screwdriver to manipulate the battery compartment to work correctly. I wasted a lot of time and energy on this and I had a hard time figuring out how to get hold of support. It took them a few days to get back to me. Overall a frustrating experience. That being said, when is operational, the sensor works just fine.

Cool gadget but only works for Speed OR Cadence

I'm mainly posting this review to save someone else a headache. I bought the Fluid2 Trainer with the Smart Sensor so I could check out some of the virtual ride apps. The sensor comes with a free trial of Rouvy. It took me 3 days and a call to Saris Customer Service (very helpful, by the way) to figure out that the Rouvy AR app only works when the sensor is in the Speed function. Customer Service guy said that if I wanted to get speed AND cadence at the same time I'd need to get a second sensor. I'm new to indoor trainers so speed only isn't a huge deal to me.

Great product

I just installed the speed sensor on my mountain bike hub. It's a little hard to wrap the band round the hub, but not too bad. Having a sensor makes indoor training tolerable; it lets me connect with online training apps.

Pretty Nifty Gadget

I'm new to bike trainer (Saris Fluid 2), and needed a sensor for the Zwift experience. I've lost the sensor a couple of times, but not sure why or how. In Zwift, it knocks the speed down when going up hills. I now wish I got a trainer with resistance control, so it will feel more like going up hills, and coasting downhill.
