SuperClamp EX 4 Bike Hitch Rack
Load up the whole crew's collection of bikes with the exceptionally safe, tough, and lightweight Saris Cycle Racks SuperClamp EX 4 Bike Hitch Rack. Built around a super-compact design, this platform hitch rack carries four bikes of any type (two of which travel on a single horizontal bar) and has undergone countless hours of testing in the heart of America's tundra country—Wisconsin. If it can handle the worst winters Wisconsin has to offer, than it's more than ready for any off-the-grid location your map takes you to.
Don't let it's incredibly tough, steel construction fool you, the SuperClamp EX 4 is 40% lighter than similar platform hitch racks, tipping the scale at a meager 63lbs. From mountain bikes to roadies to E-bikes, this rack's adjustable arms and wheel trays carry all types of bikes (with wheelbases up to 50 inches), and employs two shepherd's hooks to hold them by the top of both wheels, thus preventing any damage from frame contact. The integrated locking cable secures the bike to the rack, and then the locking hitch pin secures the rack to the hitch, to give you some peace of mind when making a gas station or fast food stop. And at the end of the day, the tilting mechanism folds the rack away for easy access to your cooler, and a built-in bottle opener on the tilt handle lets you crack aforementioned cooler goods in a pinch.

Love this rack
I own one of these having owned a Thule and a 1up previously. Here’s what I like. It’s far more compact than any other four bike rack I’ve seen yet the bikes don’t contact each other anywhere. It’s the most stable rack I’ve used to date-very stiff and the bikes barely move. The locking cables tuck away into the base bars and there are cables on each end so you can lock both wheels as well as the frame. It’s decently light and easy to carry. Comes with a hitch lock. There may be a brief bit of setup time to get the wheel trays right but after that loading is very quick and easy and the system is very adjustable as well.
What I wish were different. If the rack could remain as stiff I’d prefer aluminum for the salty winter roads of VT. The wheel straps in the trays, which aren’t really necessary are fairly difficult to operate and could be much better quality. Small complaints...
Check out how this thing works on the Saris site. It’s worth a look.
