5010 Carbon C GX Eagle AXS Mountain Bike

When we think about dissecting desert tech and endless post-work laps with the buds, we think of the 5010 Carbon C GX Eagle AXS Mountain Bike. Now built on a mixed-wheel platform, the 5010 takes advantage of a spritely 27.5in rear wheel for intuitive jumping and cornering characteristics. Up front the 29in wheel maintains momentum over awkward rock steps and tricky tech sections for versatile performance in backcountry terrain. 130mm of rear-wheel travel is tweaked for enhanced rear-wheel traction while descending, yet still supplies a supportive feel for big days in the saddle. The 5010 achieves a stable descending feel considering its conservative amount of travel thanks to a slacked-out 64.9-degree head tube angle (low position) that makes the bike more capable without sacrificing agility. The new Glovebox feature from Santa Cruz makes it possible to stash the included Tool Wallet and Tube Purse right in the bike, along with other essentials.

This premium build utilizes the Carbon C layup which is slightly heavier than the Carbon CC construction but comes in a little cheaper to make room for electronic shifting. The 12-speed drivetrain is powered by SRAM’s GX Eagle AXS shifter and derailleur which we love for its low-maintenance performance and instant shifting characteristics. We’ve really come to appreciate the Race Face ARC Offset 30 wheels for their lasting durability and vibration-damping ride feel. Flip-chip technology lets us tweak our geometry to suit our riding style or preferred terrain type. The 5010 is a great quiver of one for the rider who values maneuverability, or as an efficiency-oriented trail bike for riders who already have a long-travel steed.
