    Hike on.

Like your Mother used to say, a little bit of steep incline followed by slippery rock and hot sun never hurt anyone. Just make sure you're wearing the Salomon Women's X Ultra Prime CS WP Hiking Shoe to keep you standing upright, rather than four paws up—because that definitely would hurt you. Built to move swiftly and tackle technical trails without the clunky hiking boot silhouette, the X Ultra Prime features a completely waterproof ClimaShield upper and protective toe cap that ultimately offers both paramount performance, rugged dependability, and covert breathability when you need it most. In addition to its burly upper, the X Ultra Prime is equipped with a lug-heavy Contagrip sole that's sure to keep you stable while the EVA injected midsole, molded shank, and Ortholite sockliner ensure ample support throughout your trailside adventure.

    Great shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great all around shoe. This is my 2nd pair and love the way the shoe fits. The support is really good too. Shoe is flexible but not so flexible your feet hurt after a long hike or walk. I basically use this shoe for bang around chores.

    Great mulit-purpose traveling shoes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I originally bought these shoes for walking slushy muddy ski resorts in winter parking lot carrying skis 10-15 min to the car and drive, easy enough to take off and put back on/ stash them in the back up hiking shoes....also for short approach shoes to local climbing crags in summer....AND as commuter shoes on light rain/ snow day. They do all for me! I wanted something waterproof, bit grippy, and ok support. I tend to prefer something a bit heavy ones with ankle support for long hikes, but like others commenting, they are good for hikes. I've known that Salomon's unique fitting and understand that they are not for everyone. I have narrowish feet with long big toe. I bought 7.5/40.5 - I usually wear 7.5-8 (EU 38) street shoes, 39-40.5 in hiking and ice climbing shoes (Scarpa or Sportiva). It may be best if you know your EU sizes because not all European manufactures' US conversion are the same. They did not require break-in time. I wanted avoid quicklace which I kept stepping while walking or driving.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this as a gift, there hasn't been any complains. She is very happy with them, keeps her going all day running errands as well as hiking, so I guess they are very comfortable even when not at a hike.

    Smallish and stiff

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I usually wear a 39 shoe—that’s easier for me to use across brands than the US 8-8.5–but Salomon has some weird EU sizes, so I went with an 8 in this and an Ellipse WP. Both were too small and quite stiff. I’m not a big fan of “breaking in” a shoe (this is the 21st century, after all) so I’m hesitant to buy a larger size—may try non-WP instead.

    Hearty and dry

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Perfect hiking boot/shoe for the Pacific Northwest. We did a backpacking trip in Rainier National Park and, despite the recent rain downpour and snow, my feet stayed comfortable and dry. Very supportive as well on rocky stretches.

    Shoe fits small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I found this shoe very tight across the toe and a small fit. I have ordered exactly the same size in another Salomon style- ie exactly the same brand/type of shoe (gortex, hiking shoe) and it was a large fit. (Backcountry was out of stock for size 42 otherwise I would have ordered this again).

    Awesome Winter Hiking Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I love going on long walks and on trails with my dog even when its very cold and messy out. Walking around in winter boots was giving me random aches since they're so bulky and a bit awkward. A friend highly recommended Salomon shoes. I never owned a pair before but wanted to try them. These waterproof and insulated shoes keep my feet super warm and are really comfy on a long trail walk. My feet are so warm in these shoes I find I don't need to have long underwear bottoms on as much! They can make my feet a bit sweaty so I am wearing wool socks more often. I am sold on Salomon and wouldn't hesitate to buy these or other shoes by them again!

Great shoe for my hard to fit feet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Alright, so first off I should say I tried a couple of shoes before trying this one, including some morels (although I can't remember the style off the top of my head) and one other shoe (that I'm blanking on). The morels while comfortable at first ended up giving me horrible blisters on my heel while I was in Escalante. The other shoes were returned before I even took them out.
I'm pretty sure my shoe size is something like an 8.25 in reality, so it's hard for me to find shoes that can get me through some hiking, being too loose or too tight. These babies though, are a dream. Nice roomy toe box without being too big or bulky. I used them while on vacation in Redwood National Park this summer and I can confidently say that they are definitely waterproof. My only qualm though, is that they keep my feet really hot. I think that's just a trade off for their waterproof abilities though. If you feel you're in between shoe sizes, I highly recommend trying this shoe.
