Good shoes but needs a wide option

I like the shoes but they're very narrow when I asked about a wide I was told it was offered in black but would prefer it be offered in all colors.

Excellent fit & comfortable

I bought these for lite hiking, or trekking. They fit perfectly and are right for the hiking & trekking I do. Super lightweight and they are VERY COMFORTABLE! I would recommend them! As I just got them I can’t comment on the durability.

Shockingly bad

I bought these as I wanted a mid GTX pair of boots to go on the hills, i waked the dog around my local fields as after wearing them a couple of times I knew straightaway that they weren’t up for the job of the hills, the outsole and midsole is wafer thin, I mean you can feel EVERY stone rock or tree root they’re terrible, for me personally there is a total lack of structure around the heel and tongue area, they’re are cut dar to low to be classed as a mid boot for me, the laces lasted 4 months before I had to replace them as the metal lace loops half way up the boot have to much of an edge and shredded the laces. I’m ex UK forces and I’ve had boots from almost every major brand and thought Id try Salomon and honestly wish I’d never bothered and will never purchase from this brand again. Cheapest nastiest boots I’ve ever had at a premium price……not cheap at all. I wouldn’t even leave a start rating, but you have to.

Great lightweight hiker

I purchased these for work, as I walk several miles every day over a variety of terrain (swamp, agricultural fields, forests, and gravel roads). 2 weeks in and I'm in love with the waterproof, lightweight, and overall construction of this shoe,/boot. Having had multiple pairs of Solomon trail running shoes, over the years, I was not expecting them to run a little long / larger than normal sizing. Width is good.

Disappointing

These seem to run a tad narrow or my right has gotten wider as these are the first boots I've struggled with width. Anything longer than a 3 mile hike would cause increasing discomfort, so I only wore them on shorter hikes. I can understand sizing issues as each person's foot is different, but after less than six months using these for only shorter hikes, lugs have come off and I've worn through the sole in those spots. What's happened to Salomon quality?

Durable, comfortable

I had a pair of pioneers, both those and these were extremely comfortable. I’m a mailman so I walk anywhere from 5-25 miles everyday and these boots are a life saver. The x ultra’s have a lot of thread so it seems like they’re going to last me quite a long time. 10/10 would buy again

A little weird to get used to at first.

At first I thought I should have ordered a size up from my normal size because I felt like I was busting out of them, but as you break the boots in they actually fit very nicely. I used these to walk a few moderate trails while carrying a half loaded pack and I was pleasantly surprised at how little you feel the rocks and roots etc. with these boots. The sole is very solid and offers awesome protection and stability and the waterproofing far surpassed my expectations, my feet stayed dry and perfectly warm every time. One thing I will say is these things have absolutely 0 traction when it comes to ice, I fell on my tookis 4 separate times the first time I took these boots out, and I’m convinced that if you weren’t careful you could slip standing still on ice with these, even if the ice is roughed up it’s nearly frictionless with these boots.
