You can have it all.

You've logged plenty of laps with your feet shoved into cruelly tight race rockets over the years, always heading inside at lunch to massage feeling back into your toes. While those unyielding bricks kept your turns powerful and precise, they also gave you some weird bumps on your feet. Abandon the "pain is performance" belief already and step into the Salomon X Pro 130 Ski Boot this season instead. With a 360-degree heat-moldable shell and liners plus a burly 130 flex, the X Pro will convince you that a responsive boot doesn't have to hurt.

Salomon constructs the Twinframe 2 shell using bi-material polyurethane, which includes fully customizable panels around the ankle, shin, instep, and upper foot. Heat it up and you'll be left with a boot that conforms to your weird toes and skinny heels without the need for punching or grinding. While you're at the shop, you can get the My Custom Fit 3D Race liner molded around your foot easily as well, giving you wiggle-free security on exposed hikes to bottomless chutes. Even when the X Pro is molded to your feet, taking it off is refreshingly drama-free. Salomon's Articulated Sensifit design employs flexible panels around the instep and shin, so you can slide the boot on and off without getting gritting your teeth and getting all out of breath.

While Salomon killed it on customizable comfort for the X Pro, it made sure to give the X Pro 130 a strong backbone to handle big, aggressive days. The brand's beefy Oversize Pivot guards the space between the shell and the cuff, keeping the X Pro rock-solid laterally whether you're rolling your edges over on corduroy or steering through unpredictable chop. When you get into a sketchy spot, tighten down the X Pro's wide power strap and turn the adjustable Flex Boost screw to beef up the stiffness even more, and cinch your feet in-place using the four micro-adjustable buckles. Then go get after it.

Sacrifice Nothing

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you're a charger with a semi wide foot these boots are where it's at. They drive the big stix in the steep and deep. Stiff and burly!

More comfortable with each use.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've used these boots five or six times now. ... each time they feel better than the previous. The boots are a little more stiff than those I've used in the past, but are flexible enough to work for me. So far so good. I give them Five stars.

Game Changer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I first started taking the sport of skiing seriously I ran into a familiar problem, my wide feet couldn't find a boot they liked. After being steered towards the X-Pro 130, and it's customized shell and liner that all changed. The shell especially was a new experience for me. The X-Pro 130 is not only insanely comfortable but also a fantastic boot for aggressive skiers.

The boot has ultra firm support through the most aggressive of terrain with the 130 flex. I'm able to turn up the stiffness of the boot, if the terrain calls for it, by using the Flex Boost screw. Something that has come in handy when taking on rocky cliff areas and sketchy approaches to chutes. The buckle tightening feature allows you to shorten or lengthen the buckle to alter the fit down to the finest detail. Last but not least, the boot is ridiculously easy to get on, preventing me from making a fool out of myself and scaring children in the parking lot before my first run.

Great Expert Boot

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My bf is an expert skier, been skiing for years, and as such has subjected his feet to many pairs of boots. Out of all of them, he says that Salomon fits him the best so we upgraded him to the X Pro 130s. Great decision! He's actually comfortable when he skis now (yes, you can have comfortable feet in ski boots). Stiff flexing boot- great for advanced riders, not so great for those just getting into it. All in all, he says they're super sturdy and comfy- definitely a win!
