Toundra Pro CSWP Boot

The Salomon Women's Toundra Pro CSWP Boot isn't some dainty après boot you'll see tip-toeing between puddles snowbanks. This burly workhorse means business when it comes to protecting your foot from winter's wrath. Salomon's waterproof, breathable Climashield membrane shields your foot from fresh snowfall, and the boot's Aerogel insulation ensures warmth in downright cold temperatures. There's also a faux fur lining that feels soft against the skin, in case your wool socks start to sink. Underfoot, the Toundra Pro features a dual-layer midsole that combines cush with responsiveness for all-day comfort, and the Ice Grip rubber sole retains traction in subzero temps so you can hike on slippery surfaces more confidently.

I purchased these for snowshoeing. I own other salomon footwear - sneakers and a winter boot. In these I took a size 6. I have what I would describe as a normal average foot shape. I have many other salomon products - apparel, bindings, and backpacks. Salomon makes high quality sporting goods for sure. This salomon boot runs large and wide in the toe box. I initially ordered the 6 and 5.5. I am sending both back and just re-ordered a size 5. I suggest sizing down atleast a half of size if not a full size. There are not many choices in a serious winter boot for hiking/snowshoeing for women. This is one of the few and probably the best. I haven't used it yet, and will report back later. Fit is the first hurtel that we all must get pass.

I returned this product before using it

Seemed like a great boot very comfortable. I ordered my usual size 8. I have a wide toe box & narrow heel. This boot felt like atleast a full size larger in the toe box. Sadly I need to return it.

Love but not durable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought the older, black and white version of this boot and loved them so much I bought a pair in this newer style as well. I've worn the older model twice as much as the newer version. I've worn this newer version maybe 30 times, for winter hiking. The seam that runs along the side (down the sides where the laces end) at the sides of your feet has split open completely on one boot. The older version did not have this seam. If you plan to use these boots as a casual boot, they are wonderful, but that seam is not designed to last if you flex your foot while hiking. This is a very dangerous flaw, as the boot is no longer waterproof. I am so very disappointed, because these boots fit my feet perfectly.

Bought them for winter hiking, but...

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Really warm, incredible grip on ice, with the Salomon wonderful fit but they feel like hardshells and I know I'd get shin bang hiking with them. I live at the base of the Winds now and they are perfect snow boots. I keep them in my car just in case...

Wonderful Winter Hiking Boot

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Hiked yesterday in 14 degree weather (F). Hike was 6 miles in about 5-6 inches of snow. These boots kept my feet warm and are very comfortable. I double knotted the laces after the 2nd set of grommets and that allowed perfect comfort to my shins. I've had several pairs of boots for hiking in cold temperatures but this pair is the only pair I consider perfect. Will also use with snowshoes, but have not yet done that. They run true to size. I bought a size 7.

Perfect.

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Grabbed these as a gift for my wife, who has trouble keeping her feet comfortable when we snowshoe even in moderately cold temps. With the extremely low temps we've had (negative lows every night for the last week, single digit highs), she's had a chance to test these in real cold, and reports they are by far the warmest 'active style' boot she's worn, and are very comfortable and suprisingly light. Worth every penny, would buy again. Purchased in her typical size and fits well.

Warm and Dry

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Awesome boots! I have trouble keeping my toes warm in the late fall and winter seasons and these boots do their job! They’re very comfortable and have great traction as well in ice and snow. Whether I’m shoveling the driveway or trekking around my local ski hill I feel secure when my feet hit the ground and I don’t worry about slipping. I felt they ran a little big so I sized down a half size.

I got these as a gift and here is her review on them: I wear a size 8.5 shoe. I bought these winter boots in size 8.5 and they fit great, even if I wear them with thick ski socks. The boot goes up a few inches past my ankle, they provide great ankle support. I wore them around town for a couple of weeks to break them in. They were uncomfortable at first because they were so stiff and I learned not to tie the shoe laces too tight because the tongue of the boot would dig into the tops of my feet and it was uncomfortable. The stiffness goes away after a few wears and you can tie them tight if you want, after they are broken in. I recommend you break them in before you go out and adventure. I have taken them fat biking on snow packed trails. I had to raise the saddle on my bike a little bit because the bottoms of the boots are thick. I wear them to commute to work every day via bike. They are perfect for riding through slush, snow, rain and cold conditions. My feet stay dry and warm. I stepped in a puddle that went past my ankle and my feet stayed dry and warm, granted I was wearing rain pants so that helped. I’ve taken these boots winter hiking 5 + miles and they were excellent. I slipped crampons over the bottoms, because the trail had icy sections, and they were comfortable to walk in and my feet stayed warm. I have taken these boots snow shoeing and they fit great under snow shoes. I even wear these boots around town because they are that comfy and it’s been snowing a lot where I live. They are a perfect all around boot and are worth the purchase.

So happy with Salomon footwear. I own several different pair for a variety of outdoor activities, these are my first Salomon winter boots. Extremely comfortable, warm when trekking in the snow, and great support for varied terrain. Usually we're 9, bought 9.5, put a Sole insole in to take up a little extra space.
