    Speedcross 4 Trail Running Shoe

Long gone are the days spent ambling cautiously over rocky trails. Thanks to the Salomon Men's Speecross 4 Trail Running Shoe, you're able to confidently run through tough terrain of all kinds without having to slow down your stride. The Speedcross features a breathable mesh upper with hardy fabric overlays for torsional support, while the DWR treatment and mud guard prevent puddles and light precipitation from saturating your socks.

Salomon's SensiFit upper offers a snug sock-like fit, which means you can say goodbye to hot spots and chafing caused by ill-fitting shoes. The QuickLace system provides a speedy and secure alternative to the traditional lacing system, and the low-profile lace pocket enables you to stash excess drawcord so you don't trip over a drawcord mid-sprint. An Ortholite footbed and dual-density EVA midsole assure shock attenuation and a responsive, energetic feel underfoot. Not to mention, a recently updated Contagrip outsole provides unrivaled traction and stability on scree, mud, and just about everything in-between.

    • Rugged trail running shoe conquers tough trails
    • Breathable mesh upper with stabilizing overlays and DWR treatment
    • Anti-debris upper and mud guard offer sediment-free protection
    • Gusseted tongue further prevents debris infiltration

    Great Golf Shoe

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    Fit:True to size
    Size Bought7.5
    Height5` 6"
    Weight135 lbs

This is my third pair. I originally purchased on the advice of a Solomon Rep, Tiarre Vincent (she's great), for doing easy trail running. The shoes have great support and are very rugged. One day I was going golfing and forgot to bring my regular golf shoes and the Solomons were in the car so I used them. I regularly walk 18 holes a couple of times each week and they were great. The cleats were self cleaning and soles were rigid enough to for my swing. At the end of 18 holes my feet felt great. I know that I have sold at least 10 other golfers on these shoes.

I love these shoes. I put them on and felt like I could run up a wall. Then I went out with them and found that I actually could. I dont have wide feet. With previous trail running shoes I've owned I've had a slight problem with there being too much room in the toe box, and it made me less confident on rock scampers and jumpers. I found myself tightening my laces more than they were inteded to be t tightened to try and compromise for this. I worried that in ordering these I would encounter the same problem. But not so. These fit my feet perfectly. They have great heel and arch support which is good for me because I've been prone to shin splints. Honestly it feels like I went in and had them custom fit to my feet. The quick lace works awesome. And I don't even have to talk about the traction. Just look at the picture. Nobbies like that will deliver no matter where or what you're running through. Awesome shoe. Definitely don't buy these if you lean to a more wide fit. Otherwise, yes.

On my second pair. As long as Salomon doesn't mess with these, I'll continue buying them until the end of my days. As close to perfection as you can get.

Second pair of Salomons and I'm not sure I'll buy another brand. Ever. These are great shoes, with no need to upgrade the insole with a pricey insert! I've gotten about 6 months worth of wear on the first pair (approximately 250 miles) they been demoted to doing grungy work around the yard and still going strong. The fit is nice and snug with no complaints. The shoes take about a week to truly break in. Very happy with the multiple purchases!

Very nice shoe with seemingly super durable construction. I'm looking forward to putting them through the paces. I hope they're as tough as they look. Note: They do appear to run a bit on the narrow side. Not a problem for me. I read some of the other reviews and ordered up a half size and they fit perfect.

Fit like a glove. Lots of cushioning. Great lacing system. Look good. This was my 5th pair - use for hiking and everyday wear. Seem to run a little narrow which is perfect for me.

Super great shoes! I got these as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves running in these! They have great traction and are super clean. He also loves how easy it was to put on and off!

Great shoes for trail running, hiking, and just exploring the mountains. Lots and lots of grip and will last for awhile. Sizing is pretty straightforward, although these can be a tad narrow.

I went down to angels landing and never had to hold on to the chain. I basically hovered at a 45 degree angle up that beautiful rock face. Love these Solomon shoes.

    Rugged trail shoe

Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    Fit:True to size

I love the speedcross by Salomon. I've had the 3's for 2 years and personally think they are the best, mountain trail running shoe. Honestly, I was a little disappointed in the fit and feel of the 4's. They don't hug the heel as tightly as the 3's did, they feel narrower, and honestly seem to be longer than the same size in the 3s. With that being said, they still fit fine and run comfortably. The area they excel is in their treds. They are way beefier and grip so much harder on rock, mud, and snow. I run in the Wasatch mountains of Park City, UT; and still love them. Can't wait for the snow to melt and get these puppies in action. Overall, I'd recommend going with the 3s if you've already had a pair. But if you've never ran in 3s, the 4s will be awesome. Would recommend to a friend.

You can't go wrong with these!

This is my second pair of speedcross trail running shoes. The first pair I used for about 6 months and then they were stolen out of my car. I replaced them with a different brand because they were cheaper and they just didn't hold a candle to the speedcross. Eventually, when I was time to replace them. I ponied up for the speedcross4's and decided they are worth every penny. They seem to repel mud, are super grippy, have great cushion and seemly last a lot longer than other operable shoes.

Granted my previous trail running shoes were pretty worn out, it's just amazing how much grip these shoes have, probably the most sure-footed I've felt on technical trails. The lace system works pretty well and with the right socks I haven't had problem with blisters.

The Speedcross handles anything you throw at them. They have tremendous traction to handle the muddy trails while still protecting your feet from rocks. Salomon's lacing system stays put and keeps everything tucked into the tongue so they don't get snagged on debris. These are also available in wide and Gore-Tex options.

    Good low-bulk hiking shoe

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    Fit:Runs small

I've had these for a couple of months after I picked them up for a week of backpacking on the AT. it rained almost everyday during that trip, and I was impressed by how well they gripped wet surfaces, and especially liked that the lugs continue on into the toe so you can really dig into steep trails. I haven't used them a ton for trail running , partially because I find them a bit narrow. If I had to go back I would probably look to get the wider version, but that might just be a personal preference than something to do with the shoe. I'm not sure if others have noticed the narrower width as well. Overall, I can say that this shoe is a really good option for hikers and thruhikers who aren't looking to go for a full boot. My buddy who finished the whole trail used nothing but (a couple pairs of) Speedcrosses the whole way and loved them.

I bought the wider version at considerable cost . I've worn salomons for 20 years the wider split at the toes after only 3 weeks .

I have owned 3 pairs of the Speedcross 4's now and I have never looked back. They have a snug fit which rewards you with agility and quick response. The deeps lugs provide superior traction on all types of terrain. I have used mine for everything from technical trail running as well as hiking and genuinely have not owned a more versatile shoe. On top of everything, they're extremely comfortable. You won't want to take these off.

Replaced a pair of Brooks Cascadia 10s with these. Now it’s a whole new ballgame. I trail-run daily on the “roller coaster” on the Appalachian Trail in Clarke County, VA, so I’m pushing these shoes to their max. About a week in, and I’m still loving them. Very grippy and supportive. Also more cushioned than they look, but wouldn’t run roads w/ them. Opted for non-Gore to start, but may get a pair for colder weather in snow/rain. Speed-laces are nice. Will be interested in abrasion resistance, as I’m running VERY rocky trails. Will update review if I encounter any issues.

Are these waterproof? Salamon speed cross 4

Hi Eddie, These shoes are not going to be waterproof. They do have a DWR coating on them though, so they will be highly water resistant. We do have a waterproof GoreTex version available however.
