Why We Like The Sense Ride 4 Trail Running Shoe
To feel the trail in a whole new way, we lace into the Sense Ride 4 Trail Running Shoe. The energetic foam helps mute the vibrations of our strikes to reduce energy leaks, while a stabilizing midsole film smooths our stride, giving us a distraction-free ride. As we bound atop rocks and roots, the midfoot-hugging ghillie lacing and snug inner sleeve support our feet yet still lets them flex naturally, injecting confidence and speed into our transitions.

Just keep getting Better
I had the Sense Ride 4's and they were fantastic on the trails. The 5's have only built on the prior success with comfort and confidence on the trail.

Sole comfort
This pair has a strange beginning. I have been using Salomon shoes over a dacade, this was the first time after putting my shoes on, my feet started hurting. After a kilometre of walking the shoes started feeling ok. These shoes shoes have a slight bulky feel I had Sense Ride 4 before they were very comfortable but ripped within 3 months of urban use.

Could be good, but I wouldn’t know
These shoes could be good, but I wouldn’t know because backcountry them shipped to the wrong address and told me they weren’t responsible. Don’t buy them, or anything else from Backcountry.

Good, not great.
Overall this is a decent shoe for non-technical trails. Pros: the shoe is light, breathable, has good lug depth, and a reasonable amount of cushioning. The lacing system continues to work well, and the tongue baffles do a good job keeping everything snug and secure. Cons: the shoe has very little toe protection or randing for abrasion prone areas. I’m not sure if there’s a rock plate present but after a few off-road miles it doesn’t it doesn’t seem like it does. While the shoe has an overall feel of good craftsmanship that we expect from Salomon, it doesn’t feel durable enough to try on trails in the ADK, VT, or WMNF. It also uses Salomon’s proprietary sole compound which is fine for dirt but not reliable on greasy rock. Other shoes in the same price range offer Vibram’s “Mega Grip” or Pomoca compounds which are for more reliable on damp surfaces. Lastly, there’s the fit. The shoe is a little snug and runs short. If you’re thinking about ordering this one, go a half size up.

A good all-around shoe
I have used this shoe for a mix of activities over the past few months. It is a great walking and good general runner. Very comfortable and nice looks too. While it's branded for trails, I do not find this inspires confidence on more aggressive (narrow, rocky, steep) trails. I think it is too cushioned, so the stack feels high and rolls too easily. I also had two problems with wearing: the insole started slipping backward after a couple of weeks, which Salomon replaced with a better insole for free. Why bother with the original? It was poorly designed. Thankfully the replacements have been much better. As well, the toe plastic has cracked and started peeling. This is a quality issue considering my generic use of the shoe. Once again, Salomon customer service has been great and offered to replace the shoe after I notified them of my problem. Great company, but not the best experience with the Sense Ride 5.

At one with my feet.
Bought this a few weeks ago. Wore them on holiday where I had to do a lot of walking. They are so light and comfortable you would forget you were wearing shoes. I am a Salomon convert

mistake for me
I wear a solid 8 in men's, they only had an 8 1/2 available so I figured they would be a little roomy, well they seem to run small. I wore them to work thinking they would adjust a bit. by the end of my shift, I was limping. and since I've worn them. I didn't bother trying to return the. just a total loss for me. otherwise, they look great sitting in my closet.

Fit
Great fit, comfort and style. Very breathable fabric to keep your feet cool. This is the second pair of the Sense Ride I’ve had. The first pair finally gave out after three years.
