Why We Like The S/Pro Alpha 130 EL Ski Boot

"

Developed to offer outstanding performance and fit no matter the shape of your feet, Salomons S/PRO ALPHA 130 ensures stronger heel lock without putting unnecessary pressure on your instep. Entirely customizable and with a fully dismantlable tongue, this 98 mm boot with race-like claw strap will instantly boost your comfort and performance levels.

The thinner plastic and strategic positioning of the 2nd lower shell buckle put less pressure on the top of your foot and make it easier to step in and out of your boots.

The new 3D instep shell and 45 placement of the 2nd forefoot buckle ensure you can enjoy a stronger heel lock and more homogeneous foothold whatever your instep height.

The dismantlable, 2-part, fully customizable tongue and CustomFit 4D liner with thermoformable Talyn make it easy to adapt the instep and fit to the uniqueness of your feet.

Finally a high performance boot for me

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
26.5

I have been very happy with these boots, in combination with my ZipFit Liners. A quick shell heat mold was all it took to fit the entire boot perfectly. Amazing that after all these years a company finally made a low volume boot that works for people with a high instep. All the performance one can ask for with a ton of adjustability and a great color!

The hype is real

Incredibly stiff and responsive on-piste boot. Went with custom insoles but didn't bake the liner or shell, and my ankles have been locked in from day one. Believe the hype!

Awesome Boots

The fit of these boots is incredible! The initial last is nearly perfect for my lower volume foot but the Custom Shell feature/molding made them perfect the first time! Then I skied them. From the first turn they blew me away...what a weapon! Precise edging, progressive flex, awesome power transmission, and intense snow feel!

Did they just make a boot better than my S/Max?!

I don't have a wide foot or even an average width foot so most boots that I try on feel really comfortable until I actually go to make a turn and then I realize I need to clench my toes to keep my foot from sliding around. The new S/Pro Alpha boot actually grips my foot the way a "narrow" boot should while not bringing flashbacks or dare I say nightmares of the old blue Lange race boots that ruined free skiing for me and so many others. This new boot is a blend of my favorite Salomon boots. The heal pocket is snug while the toe box has just enough room for my feet to stay warm. The flex is stiff and responsive for ripping high soles turns on groomers but not too stiff to enjoy in the trees and moguls. The liner feels great around the ankle and the tongue of the boot wraps around my shin just right. It's like the Salomon S/Max met my old Salomon Falcon boots but somehow feel more comfortable than both. After skiing these for 35+ days in temps from below zero to 65 above I'd like to give them a 5 star review for fit and performance. The only thing I would recommend is stopping by your local ski shop to get the custom liner and custom shell heat molded to your foot shape! Also, I always pull out the footbed and get a new custom footbed shaped to my foot and the boot for absolute comfort and control.

Performance Meets Comfort

The S/Pro Alpha 130 exceeded my expectations in just about every way possible. I can’t say enough good things about the fit. I have a very narrow foot and skinny lower leg and I have a hard time finding a low volume boot that fits well. The heel pocket is beautifully designed, and provides a really nice grip. I never had an issue with heel lift at any point! The fit in the forefoot is really nice for a low volume boot. With a slightly wider fit than its predecessor (S/Max,) it gives your toes a little more breathing room, but it never felt loose. I described it as being snug where it needs to be and comfortable where it can be. I also really enjoyed the relocation of the instep buckle. I ski mostly east coast, but always spend a few weeks to a month out west every season as well. These boots were perfect in every condition I tried them in, from the boiler plate groomers of western New York to blower pow days in Utah. Flex felt perfect in every condition I tested them in. I put 50+ days of hard skiing into these boots and they did not blow out or get sloppy at any point.

Sweet!

I found that the S/Pro Alpha feels great, fit comfortably out of the box, and delivers better precision than my old S/Max. These boots had virtually no break in time, and the adjustments are easy to use. I primarily ski Sugarbush, and it is often icy. The response and feel of these boots are both great, and they made even the hairiest conditions manageable.

S Pro Alpha 130

I got these kinda late in the season so I have only skied them a few times so far. They were very snug fitting and comfortable with great "snow" feel and response.
