Performance
I love hiking and trail running with my dog. I am a personal trainer and fitness is number 1 part of my life. I time myself during my some of my hikes and trail running days. I noticed my new salmon shoes has been helping my performance and I have been finishing my trail running faster by 5 to 10 minutes compared to before.

Main Technical North American Shoe
These shoes have been a staple in my closet for all of my trail races that take place in Canada and Northeastern American trails. I find the weight to support ratio for technical terrains is exactly what I need. The shoe also provides a bit more room in the toe box compared to the majority of Salomon shoes.

Very responsive, super comfortable
Yes, yes; as you've all heard, the sock-like design makes getting the shoe on your foot a little more involved. Personally I find this design hugs the foot and heel better when your negotiating technical terrain. Beyond that, the lace pocket is more robust than that of the sense ride 3 era. I wore these shoes out of the box on a 10k trail race and my feet felt fresh by the time I crossed the finish line. As stated in the title, they're very responsive and incredibly comfortable. I highly reccomend these shoes if you are *already a fan of salomon trail shoes* and *looking to upgrade/need a new pair*. If you're new to trail running and looking for a pair of shoes, there are other more inexpensive options to get accustomed to the trail feel... that being said, these are a great shoe if you're diving in completely.

Comfortable
Very comfortable. Not the lightest shoes but the weight is acceptable. Like all other S/Lab shoes, I minimize the use for non-race running. I went for two test runs before a 50 mile race and I didn’t have any issue on my feet. These shoes helped me set a new course record ;) Because I bought them at the last minute before the race and I didn’t want to take a chance of hurting my Talus, I didn’t put the square plastic parts of the quick lace in the little pockets. (That was an issue with Ultra Glide 2. I haven’t had the same issue with any other Salomon shoes.) Salomon’s newer models tend to fit large but these pair are true to the size.

Excellent Shoe
I bought this shoe ahead of the Spartan 50k in Killington, vt and I was not let down! They handled the 16k vert and all the mud with wase. With a pair of insoles needed due to my flat feet there couldn't have been a better shoe to have out there.

Super durable
This is my third pair of S/LAB ULTRA 3's. I had a pair of last years and 2 pairs of this year's version. They are the best shoes I've had when considering comfort, durability and fit. I mostly run 50k's but have taken them on long ridge walks in Glacier Park, several scrambles to reach peaks and multi-day fastpacking trips through the Bob Marshall. I put 600 miles on the first 2 pairs and will likely do the same with my current pair. They never get holes, and the tread seems to last quite a while even on rocky terrain. Usually, I switch them out when the cushion gets too thin which happens around the 600-mile mark for me. I highly recommend these shoes for any distance and terrain. The only downside for me is the color.

My race shoe
These shoes are so good. Bought them for my 18 mile trail race , they feel very speedy . Also very little wobbling of my foot which felt good when running downhill aggressively. Will wear them for future races, though I like something a little softer for every day training. That said they are pretty comfy for the average foot.

Great all around shoe
Great shoe for virtually any terrain. A little bit narrow in the mid foot but all in all a solid shoe for short and long runs!

Great trail runner!
Fantastic trailshoe. Fit is spot on and it is perfect for the rooty and rocky trails I run on typically.
