Built for long days on the trail
Iâve put a little over 100 miles on these shoes since buying them a month ago and they still show virtually no wear. It looks and feels like a solidly-built shoe and I have no doubt they will last hundreds of miles more. As for fit and comfort, itâs the same high quality Iâve come to expect from Salomon shoes. The heel and mid foot are secure, but not restrictive, and the forefoot is just roomy enough to not feel cramped. Between the rock plate and the cushy midsole, Iâve had no problem running in them for hours without much foot fatigue. The grip is top-notch, as well. They perform well over a variety of terrains, wet or dry. I live in Tennessee where the trails are full of rocks, roots and mud and the traction is sufficient on all of it. Overall, this is an incredible shoe and I wouldnât hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, durable, grippy shoe thatâs ready for the long haul.

Easy running in all conditions.
So far I have ran about 100 miles in these shoes, besides being dirty, they are still in great shape and show little wear. Like most salomon shoes, I have found there is no break in period - I took these shoes right out of the box and ran 13 miles with them without any abnormal foot pains. Between the SensiFit upper, the EndoFit internal sleeve, and the quicklace shoe strings, my foot doesn't move around at all in these shoes. With the Contagrip soles, there is minimal slippage on loose wet surfaces. During a 20 miler with these in wet/rainy conditions for the first 10 miles, these shoes dried pretty quick the second half and my feet were not uncomfortable. One small gripe, I prefer the lace garage (the little pocket at the top of the tongue where the lace is tucked into) where it is loaded from the bottom rather than tucked in from the top. Most of salomon's shoes have the bottom loading garage, which I am used to.

High Performance trail crusher
I have been running in these exclusively for the last 2 months now. They easily handle a variety of trails from dry and dusty to wet and muddy to snow covered. The rubberized upper provides some added protection as well as helping to shed dirt and snow. They still have plenty of flex in the toe box without any awkward flex points. The QuickLace system works perfectly with the Sensifit upper to hug your foot nicely and minimize hotspots. My longest run in these has been 8 miles but they have the cushion and support to keep you going for hours.

Minor Tweaks but Major Improvements
The S/Lab Ultra from last season was my go to for super long runs and ultra races, but had some issues that made it a shoe that wasnt for everyone. By removing the lower sensifit wing from this seasons version Salomon has increased the breathability and shaved off some weight. Additionally, Salomon has adjusted the mesh material to be more hydrophobic and durable. Last years model was an incredible shoe, but a little heavy for featherweight runners and lacked durability that you should expect with a high tier price point. The cushioning feels a bit softer and the tread feels a bit sticker compared to last years model as well. So far I have raced a 50k on sandstone slickrock in these and a few 20 plus mile long runs for about 120 miles and havent noticed any major signs of wear aside from a little wear on the tread. The fit feels a touch longer than last years model and gives your toes plenty of room to splay but feels secure and locked down through the heel and midfoot. I would definitely recommend these for someone looking for a high performance trail shoe that can handle any trail conditions and keep your feet happy for the long haul!
