Versatile pack but solidity is not there

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used it for a year before it fell apart. I really enjoyed this pack a lot but for the price I would expect it to survive longer than that. I like the pockets everywhere, very accessible, the stretch used to make them that allows you to fit anything and everything, the bottles go back in their position very easily, very lightweight, easy back pocket access. Overall very good and it served me very well during numerous training runs and races (ultras).
However, the elastic to hold the bottles died soon, few times, as much as I had to go with rubber bands instead. Not really nice looking. The two "straps" on the chest that maintain the vest closed, same elastic material, same fate except that it way more annoying. Same outcome, made extras knots to maintain it alive. Back pocket (closest to my back) started to have a hole and now I would lose the whole bottle through it.
I used it extensively for a year but that was too much at the time for the high price you pay for it. Now I am running with another brand. I probably ran a solid 1,000 miles with it total, half of my runs of the year. Too expensive for the (lack of) quality.

    Solid Pack

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This vest fits really well. The pockets stretch to hold snacks and up to an aps-c mirrorless camera and can hold a days worth of water without any shifting or bouncing. If I wear this one out, I would buy it again. Size medium fits great, I’m 5’9”.

    Dad loves it

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave this as a birthday gift to my dad to use on his ultra marathons and he loves it! The fit is great for him and it carries his water in the best way to distribute the weight. He has the Osprey Duro Vest as well and prefers this one over his Osprey :)

    Great Vest!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this for a friend for her first ultra and it was perfect. Here's her review:
"Loved this vest! No chafing or rubbing even when fully stocked for an extremely hot 55k. I am relatively wide in the shoulders which is why I chose the medium over the small, I also feel the bottles would have been too hard to get back in their pockets had I gone smaller (I am an A cup). I did pull the draw strings as tightly as they went. There was no gap on the front, sides sat low so there was no chafing on my arms from rubbing. Very lightweight and breathable, no complaints!"

    My favorite vest!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I started working for Salomon, this was the first vest I got, and I love it! It's incredibly lightweight, holds everything I like to bring with me, without weighing me down. Phone, GoPro, sunglasses, nutrition, extra layer, it holds it all!
I'm 5'2, 120, and wear an XS. You want to make sure it's snug!

    Carry what you want, comfortably

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've come to love wearing a vest, not only to carry water but also to carry phone, dog treats, cliff bars, jacket, the whole works. I prefer to use the water bottles over the hydration bladder and the pockets are easily acceptable.

    Salomon Review

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I just bought the 8L S-Lab Vest. It really feels like a second skin, I would like the pockets to be wider especially the zipper pocket because its very small, it doesn't fit any phone.

    Great access

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My wife purchased this vest, here's her review:
This is a nice alternative to the salomon hydration packs I've been running in for years. Although I still can't make up my mind about weight in the hydration sleeves on the front, knowing that I can slip a hydration bladder in the back pocket makes it a no brainer to try out. The pockets on this vest are much more accessible than on my pack, so no more stopping and undoing the straps to access the necessities. I can easily carry water, phone, dog treats, and disposable bags with room to spare. I also appreciate that there is no chafing along my shoulders from the straps, which I have occasionally encountered with my pack when I wear a tank top. Overall very happy with this vest.

Is this, or the 5L version, compatible with a hydration bladder or only flasks?
