Quality materials, a soft ride, but...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10M
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 150lbs

I was looking for a lighter-weight boot that could be a versatle dayhiker and still provide enough support and stability for backpacking, and this seemed a good compromise. It is well-made and lighter than than my bomb-proof but chunky Asolo TPS 520s, but I was surprised to find that it is somewhat heavier and chunkier than I anticipated. It runs slightly larger and wider in the toe box than my Asolos, despite being the same size, and tightening the lower laces as much as possible doesn’t seem to provide enough stablility to my forefoot on rough terrain. The heel is snug and the toe and heel protection is excellent, but the sole feels soft underfoot despite the robust (and somewhat heavy) lugs. This makes for a soft, comfortable ride on sooth surfaces, but I was surprised to feel sharp rocks through the heavy outsole when on rough trails - particularly in the ball of the foot. The boot provides more ankle coverage than I expected, and offers excellent ankle support. The lacing lock system allows you to adjust lower and upper laces separately and works well. The textile upper materials are rugged and shed mud and muck nicely. The waterproof inner lining works as advertised to keep feet dry, but doesn’t breathe as well as I hoped and consequently my feet tend to get hot after a while. I’m not sure this boot would be comfortable in hot weather, although it is cosy in cold weather. There’s a lot to like about this boot, but it doesn’t provide as much stability or protection underfoot on rough terrain, lacking the stiffness I expect from a backpacking boot, particularly in the forefoot area. Others may not find this as problematic, and in other respects this a surprisingly robust and rugged boot. But I would opt for my heavier Asolo TPS 520s on any serious backpacking trip, and others might opt for Salomon’s chunkier Quest 4Ds. So I’m not sure what niche this boot fills - probably a bit too much boot for the casual dayhiker, but not quite stable enough or protective enough to be a go-to backpacking boot for me. This is a somehat dissappointing conclusion, since I like the other features of this boot and it’s well-constructed in all other respects.

    Quality right out the gate!

Bought these for a last minute hunting trip I was invited on. The first time putting them on was pulling up to camp in the high mountains of Utah. I was a bit worried because I didn't have time to break them in. During the two day trip my feet stayed dry and comfortable in the muddy terrain. It is nice when it is freezing, muddy and miserable to not have to worry about your feet. I bought the 10.5 which I usually wear fit perfectly. Definitely a huge fan and would recommend 10/10 to a friend.

      Got a love Salomon

In my opinion salon and make some of the best shoes out there, I’ve had at least 3 pairs in the past five years. Outstanding shoes that last forever. They are true to size and fit very comfortably

      Great boots

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 11.5

This is my 2nd pair of Salomon boots. I have tried others and for me, nothing is better. I ordered a size 11.5 knowing that they run a little bigger in size and that my feet tend to swell when hiking. I put them on out of the box and went on a quick 4 mile hike and the boots did not disappoint. They are comfortable, have great grip and are sturdy. The next time that I need to order boots, I'm sticking with Salomon. they will perform great for an upcoming 7 day hike on the Appalachian Trail.

      Salomon boots

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 13

These are very nice boots but I wear a 12.5 come on Solomon big guys deserve a proper fit too. I bought size 13 because these are replacing my old Salomon Snow Monkeys that were a size 12 and a bit to tight.

      Nice Boot, Runs Big

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 8
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 155lbs

I normally wear a size 8-8.5 shoe and tried these on in a size 8. For reference I have short paddle shaped feet that get continually wider from heel to toe. These worked fine in width but were too long. If a size 7.5 was available at the time I would likely have kept these as they felt like quality boots!
