FAVORITE PACK EVER

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I was very skeptical to receive the Salomon Out Night 28 L Pack. To say I have an issue finding packs would be an understatement. I have tried just about every pack known to man but have always had something not work for me. I am 5'4 with very broad shoulder, very short torso, small bust, and athletic build. The Salomon Out Night 28 L (size small) fits me perfectly! It does not dig into my collar bones like most packs I have tried. The straps don't dig into me and don't feel cheap. The torso of the pack also fits like a glove, often times I find that packs are too long for me and there is a weird sag. The pack is very easy to adjust. Things I love: Pack is very minimalist, doesn't have a million different pockets and unnecessary bells and whistles. I love that you can remove the brain if you prefer, that you can access the pack through the top or the side zipper. It also have plenty of pockets to store chapstick, hand santizer, your phone, and snacks around the waist band and chest. (Bonus--you can use a Salomon flask as well as a camelback). I have used this pack for day hiking, a little bit of hiking/running. It doesn't pack weight weird and when you do run with it doesn't bounce all over the place. As the weather gets nicer I will use it as an alpine pack and overnight pack (if you can pack light this pack can do it all). My only complaint about the Salomon Out Night 25 L is I wish that they had thought a little bit more about ice tool attachments and made the side pockets for nalgenes a little bit bigger. They are hard to use if you want to shove stuff in them. This pack is amazing and worth the investment. The price point isn't terrible either. If you have a short torso, this is the pack for you.

Good for all kinds of adventures

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I hike, bike, ski, camp, or climb around Glacier Park pretty much every weekend, so I’ve been through my fair share of backpacks. I took the Salomon Out Night 28L+5L pack on a day hike through the snow, as well as on a 13 mile bike ride. I’m 5’3 and the S/M size fits me perfectly. The pack itself seems very durable and is what I expected from looking at it online. Overall, I love the pack. I love the 5L top, it’s convenient for quick access, and easy to remove for shorter days. I was surprised with how much could fit in the pack, I would definitely take it on an overnight or weekend trip. The main thing that I don’t love is that it sits right up tight on your back, so on hot days I’ll get pretty sweaty. Pros: -Love the color (I chose Canton/Yucca) -Extremely spacious, I fit everything I need and more -Removable top for shorter days -Spot for water bladder -Lots of pockets to keep organized (I especially love the pockets on the straps- great for chapstick, keys, Kleenex, etc.) -Lightweight -Straps to pack trekking poles -Many adjustable straps to ensure a comfortable fit Cons: -Back is padded, but still need to pack it carefully/evenly so things don’t jab you in the back -Pack sits right up against your back, can get pretty sweaty on a hot day Overall, I would recommend the Salomon Out Night 28+5L, I look forward to using it more and taking it on overnight trips. It is a great alternative to my large heavy backpacking pack.
