Just found a 2020 version of these boots
Oh my fingers are crossed for these. Heard so many good things about the pre 2020 boot and so many bad things about post 2020. Mine have a cross cross lace on the liner so I think I’m all good. Sucks that these have turned to crap though. Very sad as I was looking for a better alternative to Burton

Better than last year
The construction seems better this year but still have had issues with the current model. The toe box stiffness broke down after 6 days and now buckles under my toe strap. The powerlock lace system loosens easily despite multiple attempts to tighten during a day of riding and the laces tore after several days of use. If available would definitely try the BOA system which I hope is more effective and durable.

Which year?
Trying to figure out which year Salomon ruined these boots. I think I have the 2017 model. Looking for the last year they had lace up inners and the ankle strap. I see Salmon changed hands in 2019, so I'm assuming that was the last year they were good boots.

Poor Quality
I posted a review a few months ago before having them on snow. I was hopeful the changes this year would be an improvement over last years' model... closer to the Malamute of past years. On day two of the season (less than six hours on snow), while strapping in, the heel strap anchor on one of my boots literally ripped out from the sidewall stitching of the boot (see photos). It seems like quality control is an ongoing issue with this product. Not stoked to now be trying to source a new pair of boots at the start of the season with all the supply chain issues.

Better than last year
Haven't tried them on snow yet but happy to see them revert back to an inner lace system. I have been a long time Malamute user, and last year's model was a huge disappointment. Two long-standing issues: 1) The velcro on the heel strap needs to be lengthened by about two inches or the strap itself needs to be shortened as it is too long for people with a slimmer leg. 2) The quality of the inner lace cord and islets needs to be improved as they often rip out and this year they again feel very flimsy.

Great boot - but lacing is awful
Love the fit, the stiffness, the durability. But no matter what this boot’s lacing systym won’t stay locked. I’m constantly having to stop riding and retighten them. Any suggestions for a fix Salamon…?
