Tune up, drop in, and chill out.

Salomon knows what it takes to make the most of an epic season, and it's all too clear with the Salomon Men's Chill Out Bib Pants. The waterproof, breathable fabric with fully taped seams fends off moisture from waist-deep powder and wet winter storms, and the 60g synthetic insulation makes that lift ride a little more tolerable until you can warm your legs up again on another bump run. The bibs keep your britches up on the ultra deep days, and can be removed if you're headed out for a spring tour. Internal boot gaiters keep snow from creeping up from the bottom, and two external leg vents with a mesh backing let you ditch some heat if you start getting too warm.

Perfect Fit

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these as a gift for my dad, and here's what he had to say, "Today at Alta was my first chance to use my new Salomon ski pants. Fit perfectly with out even adjusting the suspenders. Very comfortable, warm and fit nicely over my boots."

Can't find a better value, Chill Out

I haven't found better bib pant for the money.

The fit was just right for me, not too baggy, not to snug.

They are reasonably waterproof, however, I did get a bit damp after skiing a full day with snowfall. The saving grace would be that they still kept me warm and dried quickly after taking a short break in the lodge.

I've had them for one season so time will tell on durability but so far they've been great!

Huge and baggy.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: small
  • Height: 5'9"

Other reviewers said these pants were slim. Don't believe it. Waist fits properly. But they're huge, gigantic, through the legs. Like a tent. Other than that, they're actually great pants if you're looking for extra baggy.

Take this review with a grain of salt if you're really skinny - then these are the pants for you. High quality and insulated. As somebody with big glutes and thighs these pants did not work for me. Uncomfortable snug. Going back to my Spyder bib until I can find a decent insulated bib under $200 that gives some more room. Only other critique - much prefer leg venting on the inside of the thighs as opposed to outside.

Love them

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

5'11" 175lbs and generally wear a 33-34 waist. Bought the mediums and have skied in them about 70 times or so. I LOVE these pants. Completely waterproof and really warm. The side vents are easy to access and large. I can open/close them with mittens on. The pockets are placed well and all the seems are taped. The pic is from Canyons - the pants are on.

Love them

Awesome Pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

So I recently started skiing after nearly 20 years of snowboarding and I wanted a pant with some kick patches to help my pants last longer.

After trying on around 10 different pairs of pants these ones were the clear winner.

They fit great, they are supposed to be rated at a "Relaxed" or baggy fit, but I would never call these baggy, more like a standard nice fit. also the fabric has a lot of stretch in it so, which is good so that you don't feel you have restricted movement.

The suspenders are completely removable and you would never know they are a bib pant.

In general just really well built, comfortable, nice pants!

Underrated Ski Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I bought a pair of these pants in orange last season and liked them so much I bought a more conservative black pair this season. These pants held up well to over 80 days on the snow last year here in Utah and kept me warm and dry each time. I wore them for many bc hikes, and the slight insulation was comfortable during frigid temps, and the leg vents worked perfectly when I needed to cool down. The thigh pocket is a great way to have easy access to my phone and keep it as far away from my beacon as possible. I did tear the lower cuffs of the pants with my crampons, so a patch of reinforced material down there would make these pants perfect. Other than that, I have no complaints about these pants, and for the price I think they're an incredible deal.

Unanswered Question

Do these pants easily wrap around snowboard boots? A few pairs that i've own have not been able to wrap around.

Could you use these as a touring or alpine climbing pant or too bulky?

Hi Ian,

Good question. You can really use any pants to tour in. Most people would opt for a non insulated pant with good ventilation as it gets quite hot trekking up the mountain. These insulated pants are definitely going to be warmer and more bulky than a non insulated pant.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
