Awkward Sizing and Annoying Straws
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- XXS and XS
- Height:
- 5' 1"
- Weight:
- 110
Pros: Soft fabric, lots of storage, and nice tightening straps. Cons: The sizing on this pack is bizarre. I should be an XXS according to the sizing chart, but that size was incredibly tight across the shoulders. Sized up to an XS and the fit was good everywhere except for the armholes, which were incredibly tight, even while wearing a thin t-shirt. I have small/average shoulder and upper arms, so I was surprised by this issue. Additionally, the straws are incredibly annoying! They are extremely long, and smash both of my cheeks when the pack is on. I returned the pack and will keep looking for something with a better fit and a better designed hydration system.

My favorite pack
I have a few of the Advanced Skin packs, and this one is my favorite. You will find me in this one on most days. I love the women’s fit and the bottles are comfortable for a woman. It has plenty of room for storage as well.

womens skin 8 hydration pack
Did my first half marathon with it on sunday, nice and light and plenty of pockets and as the trail had a mountain climb had my hiking poles in the back. the only issue was the length of the drinking pipes, super long and took me ages to cut down. they were so long they poked me in the eyes.

Almost perfect!
I love the style and fit of this vest, and the pockets that hold everything I need. I wish I'd taken notice of all the other reviews that said the drinking straws are too long - they really are, and I spend ages at the start of each run trying to tuck them into a position that won't constantly knock my face or neck. I don't want to give up on the vest, so would love some advice on how to cope with them!

Almost perfection
I purchased this pack after I got a Salomon unisex pack and it felt so long and bulky. I use the large on only for really long hikes. This pack is perfect aside from the straws. If you leave them out; they hit you in the face but if you tuck them in to the sides of the bag sometimes your drink will squirt out and you have a sticky bag. I purchased a small at first but it felt really tight on my shoulders. I got a medium and now it feels a little too big. I am glad I have the medium though b/c when I put a hydration bag in the back it doesn't feel so tight on my shoulders. I am 5'7" ~132lbs

Could be improved
I bought this a few months ago when the weather was cold; since the weather has been warmer, I have found it to be much too hot. I have used it during my marathon training and have been pleased that it carries a litre of fluid in soft, flexible bottles which feel comfortable And whilst the straws are very long, they can be tucked into small pockets on the front, although I am contemplating cutting them shorter. There is also a space for a bladder in the back so useful for longer trail runs. I have found the sizing of the Adv Skin 8 incorrect; according to my measurements I needed a small but it was far too tight under my arm pits so I had to exchange it for a medium. In the medium size I have to pull the two sides together with the elastic latching system so that they almost meet in the middle, unless I am wearing a winter top underneath. With just a running vest, the hydration vest rubs again the skin of my chest causing quite bad chafing.

Waayy too small - SIZE UP!
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- S
- Height:
- 5' 1"
- Weight:
- 120
I was beyond excited to receive this in the mail. However, it is very tight. I normally wear a XS-S, 5'1 120lb athletic build and my shoulders did not fit. I will be sadly returning and getting the unisex. Not all women have tiny shoulders. This was highly disappointing.

Wanted to like it
Way too small, couldn't keep it. Per the sizing chart I fit squarely in the Small, it ended up too tight on the armpits/shoulders, I was able to try on the Adv 5 and a small did fit, must have been the unisex versus women's specific fit. Otherwise it looks like it'd be a great vest.

Terrible zippers
This is my 2nd ADV SKIN 8. Salomon kindly replaced the first one because the zippers on the side pocket broke within a year. But now the exact thing has happened with my current vest. Delicate little zippers are no good to me on outdoor adventure gear! Otherwise it's a nice vest. Too hot in the summer, but the custom cinching system makes the extra heat mostly worth it because I can minimize chafing.
