Best hydro vest for middle distance!

I chose Salomon after comparing the fit with others including Nathan and Osprey. There are other vests with more volume but for marathon training, I believe this is perfect based on weight and fit. It's more of a minimalist approach but for road running (and middle distance trail running as well), this vest allows you to carry more than enough amount of hydration. The best feature of this vest is the fit. Nothing bounces. The rear pocket, even with 5L of hydration filled, felt secure and not heavy. I did not experience any tension on my shoulders during a 17 mile trail runs. For middle distance (15-23 miles) road running, two soft flasks and 5L bag in the rear was plenty for me to last out there on a hot day. With many pockets for gels and one large enough for my phone, this is really my go-to vest for my weekend long runs. Highly recommend this for runners who are looking to run fast and carry minimal weight.

I love this little guy. Super light, pockets galore. I've had it for about a year, it's held up great, and I think I'm still finding new pockets every time I use it. Perfect for trail runs or long urban runs where hydration is warranted. I also love using it for day hikes where I only need a bit of water, my phone, and keys. The included soft flasks are easy to use on the go, and the back pocket accommodates a bladder (not included) while still having some space for a light jacket. As a woman, I was initially a bit concerned about the unisex fit and the chest flasks bouncing around. I was pleasantly surprised to discover there is no bounce, even when fully loaded. I found the fit to be true to size; I am typically a S/M in ladies tops, and the Small vest fits well, but I do wear it tightened down most of the way and probably could have sized down to and XS. It did chafe pretty badly the first time I wore it, but I was able to adjust where the chest laces sit, which remedied the problem and has not rubbed since. Bottom line: buy the dang vest. It's more than worth it.

Used for my first trail race. With covid limited hydration stations it was perfect for my 25k. Used tailwind in the soft bladders that came with it. I love these things. If you are used to bike bottles you can just reach up and squeeze them to get a quick drink without having to actually suck the fluid out. No bounce and no rubbing. I wear medium in most fitted tshirts.

I can't imagine a better, more well thought out solution for hydration, nutrition, and gear for runs over 20 miles. I use a 1.5L insulated hydrapack bladder in the back, with insulated drink tube, and carry concentrated tailwind in one soft-flask on the front. Tons of pockets, no chafing, almost no bouncing. Simply perfect.
