    Way Cool!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just purchased this vest a few weeks ago. I ran the Moab Trail Marathon in it last weekend. I carried both flasks with Skratch in them, my phone, a hat, gloves, wind shell, and a couple of bars and gels. I took out the emergency blanket and the bladder insulator.
    I am about 5'9

    Fits Great and Stays Put

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The first thing I noticed when wearing the ADV Skin for the first time is how high it sits on your torso. This really helps it stay in place better and allows you to reach your hydration without needing to adjust anything.
The pockets are well thought out with plenty of room for the essentials. I typically carry my phone, car key, and dog leash in addition to water and nutrition. Plenty of room to throw a protective shell in there as well.
I am 6'1 175# and fit comfortably in the M/L

    Great hydration vest!

Once I began trail running, I realized I could no longer get away with not bringing water or nutrition with me on runs. Working for Salomon, I've had the opportunity to try many different packs. I love how the Advanced Skin vest has the perfect amount of room for extra nutrition, and an extra piece of gear, without any additional bulk.

      Too small, old style bottles?

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Sadly this thing is way to snug to run in, so I'm returning it.
I'm 6',0" and a reasonably fit 185lb fifty-something guy. I wear S/M in Ultimate Direction stuff and purchased this item M/L based on the size chart, but this thing is tiny!
I'm a longtime Salomon shoe user going back to 2005 and generally love their stuff. Was also disappointed that this was an old model (at least the bottles were). The current model should have had the hard bottomed bottles, not so here. Anyways after waiting a few weeks for it to arrive, it was a let down not be able to use it.

      Amazing vest.

It's expensive but skip the trial and error of the other hydration packs. This put my old camelback to shame as far as storage and comfort. I've used it for 50ks 100ks 100miller runs century trail bike rides multiple day bike excursions. Hiking with the dogs with a few pints of good beer. The watherbottles kinda suck. They are difficult to refill but I understand what they were going for. Buy the bladder. I run shirtless with this and have minimal rubbing issues. I've got 3 years and probably 3k mikes on the thing

        Amazing vest.

        Awesome Vest

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my first running vest and I'm super stoked on it! It has plenty of room for water, snacks, a rain layer and a few other smaller items. It hold's everything close to your body, and distributes the weight so well that you barely notice you're wearing it. The material is also very lightweight and breathes well. I don't go out for super long trail runs so I find that the two included soft flasks give me plenty of water for most of my trail runs, and I pretty much only use the 1.5L reservoir on longer hikes. For most summer trail running/hiking uses this pack works great, and I'd highly recommend it!

        She Loves It (and me)

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So I've been running and long day hiking in the 12L men's version for a few months, and the lovely Bonnie finally decided she wanted one of her own.

I picked up this 5L out of instinct, since she's barely bigger than 12L herself. Looks wise, I'm stoked I did it. The 12 would have been bulky and just too much for most of the stuff we do, which is less than 20 miles 98% of the time.

Regarding the size difference, my 12L I could take on an overnight, assuming a light sleeping bag and a hammock or sleeping pad. One could not do that in the 5L, but unless you're out there training at distances where you're routinely out for 8+ hours, the 5 will do. Water, snacks, light first aid, space blanket, wind/rain layer... no problem, doesn't even look bulky. And, the material is incredibly pliable, so overstuffing is absolutely possible.

The purple is cool, way cuter on her than black would be. I've seen the red around too, and it's pretty blood red, so if that's your thing, you'll dig that color too. Just know it's a deep red, very visible on the trail.

All in all, I'm a believer in the redesigned chest straps of this series of vests, and think they're the class leaders. We waited wayyyy too long to pick them up in our family, and I can't really imagine going out for hours without them anymore. Seriously, whether running, hiking, bagging peaks, ULTRAlight fastpacking, or even cycling, these vests are sick.

High price tag for sure, but they execute on everything they should, and I can't imagine you'll be disappointed.

Does this hold/come with a bladder? The info makes it seem like it only comes with the bottles, but one of the reviews makes it seem like it comes with a 1.5L bladder?

Hey Ellen, this hydration vest will only come with the 2 soft flasks pictured. You can integrate a bladder if you would like into the back kangaroo pouch (however I would recommend only using a bladder less than 2L).
