I spent several weeks testing out multiple trail running vests and the Salomon ADV skin 12 beat them all. This has the ability to hold a ton of gear for the long unsupported runs, while maintaining the ability to compress down to use as a daily runner. I loved the softness of the mesh, so nice I can use this pack with a tank or shirtless. The location of the bottles is perfect to be able to drink on the run. Tons of compartments to put your essentials in your desired spot. Add a bladder if you desire and go charging in the mountains all day long.

Will the front water bottle pockets only work for soft bottles, or do traditional 20-24 oz bottles work as well?

500ml disposable crushable & hardside water bottles work, but tight fit. The Salomon softside bottles are best.
